Forums - Nintendo - Can Japan Save Yoshi's New Island?

I'm sure everyone knows Yoshi's New Island for 3DS isn't selling too hot. In America and Europe combined, it has only sold 0.38m and has been out for 2 months plus. The reason I bring this up is because I think Japan can save it. Look at Mario Party Island Tour. It bombed in the US and Europe but sold really well once it reached Japan. And Kirby Triple Deluxe too. It sold in Japan first and went strong but America and Europe not so much. Hopefully the holiday will increase all these games sales too.

Thanks for all the great memories!

Games like that (all those you mentioned), don't rely on their first couple of weeks. They fully rely on holiday seasons. Let's wait until after december.

There's a reason the game is failing. It's an utter embarrassment as a successor to one of the greatest platformers ever made. And I doubt Japan will do anything as the game has yet to appear on the COMG preorder charts.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Handhelds do way better on japan, so probably is that. So you can count on a better perfomace there, but will be enough? who knows...

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Bad games deserve to do bad regardless of who the publisher is

It doesn't have a release date and its not a big game

OT: Its undertracked here at least in the US. The game will sell over 800k lifetime despite it being ugly (i dont kno if its good/bad)

The DS entry sold over a million units in Japan. I would count that as a big game.

hmm... Didnt kno it did 1mil. I guess it can do 200k-300k lifetime. That wouldn't be bad imo. Still the game is over 400k now, there's a good chance it'll barely hit 1mil, but its too bad more deserving 3ds games get less. Kirby will have strong legs but that game is currently doing worse than Yoshi :(

It'll easily hit a million, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up near 2m. You guys are way too impatient. These games, along with the Mario Parties of the world are made for holiday sales.

And about the pre-orders, who in the world would pre-order such a game anyway ?
