Wii U's turnaround is about to move into full swing, with the first steps being shown in Japan this week where the system outsold PS4 by several thousand units.  With MK8 release scheduled for next week it appears Wii U is about to really start to expand its sales lead in the country and build on the substantial liftetime sales to date advantage.

Is there anything PS4 can do in the East to improve the situation?  Or is Wii U too strong to catch?

Eh they just wait until Final Fantasy XV I suppose.

Are you serious? The PS4 just needs some exclusive, big Japanese games. Imagine if The Last Guardian was to release in Japan this year, every Japanese would run to the stores to get one...

Should wait intill mid 2015-2016 if you believe it wont have a chance. Personally i think it will catch it 2016/2017.

Am i missing something here? didnt the PS4 just launch in japan around 3 months ago? And hasn't the wiiU been in japan for over 15 months now? or was it also delayed in japan?

Anyways, the PS4 will catch and pass the WiiU in japan. This is pretty much guaranteed when MGS5, FF15 and GT7 are released for it.

The last mainline entry was FFXIII which sold over a million in Japan. Spin off sequels and MMOs don't count in my book. 

I think Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil are enough to secure an install base of at least 5 millions in Japan.
+ What PS4 has already sold, + niche anime games + sports games, + fighting games (new virtua fighter, tekken, street fighter V) + the important minority of Japanese gamers who like western games + its long life since it is a powerful machine.

I am sure it will sell more in Japan than the N64 and Gamecube, so the Wii U should be a huge success in Japan in order to not get outsold by the PS4 eventually. I don't think it will be a huge success, but I would be surprised if it doesn't sell 7 million units in Japan.
