Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8's N64 Rainbow Road is a slap in the face for fans of the original! <(X_O)>

Nope. First off the original was good, long enough for going from last to first or from first to last.
Secondly, the new one is terrible. Aside from the look, the design is boring just filled with gimmicks and even worse, short.

Finally Toad Turnspike is one of the best tracks ever in Mario Kart history. Maybe my friends and parents were not enough skilled to enjoy crashing with the cars, especially in extra mode.

Compared to the original, the design of MK8's version is  godly.

Nope, just full of gimmicks.

What does all of this mean? It means that the original form of the N64 Rainbow Road was truly complete and utter garbage. Suck it up and deal with it, you tools.

Rainbow Road on Mario Kart 64 was a bad track.

One of the worst tracks in the game.

Fans of Mario Kart should be happy they fixed it on Mario Kart 8.

They were very smart to change that long and boring track

And make it a lot more fun and interesting.

It's a much better track now.

Nintendo did a great job.

Agreed that MK64's Rainbow Road was garbage (save for attempting the shortcut jump at the beginning of the track).

F-Zero X's Rainbow Road on the other hand was pure awesomeness...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. The people who claim to like the original N64 version probably are thinking with nostalgia goggles on. The only thing memorable was the music.

The best Rainbow Road was also in the best Mario Kart game which was the original (SNES).

Well the OP isn't targeted at me, so... I agree!

I always hated people who would pick Rainbow Road in multiplayer...
And I had no problem letting them know it...
I didn't mind the course in single player though...

Have a nice day...

I always dreaded rainblow road when it came up... Too damn long. My least liked track in the series.
