Forums - Gaming - Now that Xbox One will be 399$ how long before it will overtake US from PS4?

Weeks? Should be months. I don't think it will over take the PS4 at all, but if it does it probably won't be for at least a a year from now.

Another one of these again, we literally had the same exact thread less than a week ago. Anyway, it would not be wise to assume that just because something sold well last gen that it'll sell well the gen afterward, great examples include the PS3 and Wii U. America prefers no brand like Europe and Japan, they pick whichever they feel is "coolest". Right now as far as I can tell the PS4 has the cool factor, the X1 doesnt have that quite nearly as much. Most of the market will be completely unaware of the lack of camera and price drop, the Wii U still has people thinking its just a Wii extension. Bad press doesnt magically go away

Well there aren't any retailer specific incentives. One would just walk in if they were so inclined.

Don't new SKUs usually sell pretty quickly on Amazon?

I personally dont regard Amazon as a major source of sales. Not like good ol Gamestop/Ebgames, Walmart, and Bestbuys. Which so far, have no advertised incentives to preorder.

Well Ethomaz's "Amazon theory" is working perfectly even with VGchartz overtracking Xone every month.

Where is he BTW? This site is dead without him.

At the same price it comes to the games mostly... people bragging about resolution and technical stuff holds no ground outside forums. The games are what people want and to be frank I'm starting to know more people that want to play multiplayer games like Titanfall than single player only games like Infamous...

MS has always been strong in multiplayer and family games. Sony on the other hand are best in story driven singleplayer experiences. The American market strongly favor multiplayer experiences. With games like Halo, Gears, Titanfall and the rumored Crackdown 3 Xbox will be once again the console people want... couple that with COD, Battlefield and Xbox Live I'm sorry but all the graphics the PS4 can pump won't do much except wow for an instant until people go back to multiplayer.

Sony has a lot of multiplayer franchises but it seems they don't want to invest in them... I think they should.

By end of Summer. Unless Sony Pushes dem games! Please do! I want my kids to ask for a Sony system this gen. I love the 360, but am ready for a change. Will not buy one myself.

Damn spurge, you just can't stop amusing me with your posts

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I am confused on how anyone thinks that Xbox One passing the PS4 in North America is not possible.

With all the "bad press" everyone says the Xbox One got, and with being mostly $100 more for the majority of the 6 months out it has managed to only be roughly 350k behind the PS4. Yes there were shortages for the PS4 but those have not been the last few months, and the numbers have NOT sky rocketed for the PS4.

With a parity in price of $399 .. it is very possible that the Xbox One will match if not surpass the PS4 sales by the end of year in North America. By this holiday the AVERAGE consumer will finally be picking up on the new consoles out. Games will have been announced (E3), with release dates etc. The HALO collection will be a big one to put the Xbox One in minds of Xbox 360 owners. Microsoft is doing a good job of updating their console monthly adding features and fixing bugs.. By Nov/December the Xbox One will be a formidable challenger.

I do not think its a guaranteed win. But catching up shouldn't be out of the question.

Predictions on 12/01/15 - Generation 8 Totals:

PS4: 85-95m
X1: 55-65m
WiiU: 20-30m

We will see come E3 what they have planned. Sony's first party will be hard at work and Microsoft will probably have some outside funded work. They'll have something.

Starting early June both PS4 and X1 will be priced at 399$ in the USA. Naturally, Americans prefer Xbox over Playstation but due to the huge 100$ price difference we saw PS4 doing much better. But from now on I predict that Xbox One will outsell PS4 every week in the US.

Currently Xbox One is at 2,866,704 sold in US, PS4 is at 3,285,850

How many weeks until Xbox One will officially take over US from PS4?

Such presumption..., "Naturally, Americans prefer Xbox over Playstation" ....?

How did you end up with that conclusion???? Maybe YOU prefer XB over PS??? You, very conveniently, forgot to mention that X360 was $200 cheaper than PS3, which was the main reason why it triumphed over PS3 last gen. The previous gen (6th) though, PS2 had triumphed over XB although they both were similarly priced.

Americans are way less brand-loyal (than Europe and Japan) as some may suggest but they are very sensitive to

- Price

- Media

- Social Networking

Now the price field is even but there has been huge waves of negative publicity for XB, and PS4 tends to gather more people with a greater momentum. I believe it will be a close call in US, though, being more powerful, having more consistent policies, more upcoming exclusives, and slightly more built-up memontum, and finally more media coverage (due to international domination and being the lead development platform), PS4 will still lead in US (though by a relatively small margin, like 45%-55%)

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

Next Gen Consoles Impressions and Estimates

Of course the bad press will still be spread by some Sony fans even when most of it isn't true or was removed (Yep a lot of people still say 360 will rrod... go figure). I don't think X1 will start selling that much until some time but if the games trend continues the way it does I see MS passing Sony in the long run that's for sure.

The fact that XBox One has now fallen out of Amazons top 100 in any form is scary, and should tell you that this price cut alone will not even bring it back to par with PS4, let alone make it start outselling it.

Starting to think MS is in alot more trouble with Xbox than people realize. Really hope im wrong.
