The refs are really good this World Cup... Only today we already had 4 big mistakes. That makes me imagine how FIFA choose the refs.

Agreed. For what it is worth Chile are ranked 12th (could be 13th or 14th, can't be bothered to look it up). Any top 20 team is due respect.

i don't think that was a pen and to be honest i think cards are given out all to easy for so called foul play but the difference with a penalty like costa is that the defender doesn't stay on his feet goes sliding through,always gives the ref the opportunity with any contact

It is hard to tell if they touched. Looking at it from all angles I'm still not sure. He slid right at him, it seemed like they touched, and Costa fell. Makes sense to give a penalty

The penalty is a bit controversial, as he was clearly searching for it, but then again - the defender did make contact and move his back leg, which is a faul. He managed to show it well to the ref, so all in all - I think it was a good call. The Dutch didn't even complain, which says a lot.
