Oh man, this hurts.

Our curse is just too strong.

I really don't give a shit about this horrible world cup anymore. I know it hurts but I'm sure you guys won people's hearts :)

Thank you, much appreciated!

To say the truth the only ones responsible for our elimination are Mexico players. We tried to defend our goal for too much time.

Despite the tripping and diving, you still cannot constantly give another team corner kicks over and over again. Mexico did not play as well and the Netherlands persistence payed off in the end.

I'm not 100% sure you understand how corners are awarded.

Going out of bounds or something off the opposite team?

Yeah, if it comes off a player from a member of the defending team and goes behind their goal it's a corner. So technically you could have infinite corners I suppose.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Lol after the match Kalac (former Socceroo and AC Milan GK) says he is still not convinced by the Dutch or Ochoa... Really, Ochoa in this WC has played more good games then you had in your career -_-

Almost no one in the international press is saying that Mexico was robbed and instead that the Penalty was clear and cut. It sucks that it happened, but it's all Mexico and Rafa Marquez's fault.

He has the experience to know that any touch on your opponent's foot when he's shifting directions is gonna be sanctioned as a penalty more often than not.

yea it's only internet people overreacting for whatever reason (maybe because they were "invested" in Mexico winning, or they are invested in hating Robben)

lol, people are still salty over the Brazil game? Get over it. Chile lost that one by themselves. Is it the crossbar's fault?

Now Robben's theatrics, I could understand but ultimately it's the Mexican coach's fault for inviting all that pressure. Who takes out their best striker because of a 1-0 lead especially against a team that has been scoring a lot of goals? Mexico's attack was impotent afterwards. It's like they really believed Ochoa could win by himself. That's why parking the bus is a flawed strategy. Just ask Iran too.

First half was Mexico's, but second half was certainly Dutch. Overall it was actually level. Penalty at the end was definitely a penalty, he stepped on his foot. No dive. It was more of a penalty now than Greece's was anyway.

I will say we were however lucky enough the ref actually gave it.

The good thing about being hispanic is that you have two teams to root for :P

The last few minutes were pretty devasting for us, but it did seem like Mexico stopped trying in the second half.

It was a penalty.

The problem I have with it is the added theatrics, which Robben gets away with every single damn time.

To be fair, sometimes the theatrics are necessary to make sure the ref sees. Remeber Puyol's last man foul in the WC 2010? If Robben had actually dived there instead of playing through it, he'd have made more of the opportunity.

Robben does manage to pull some hate towards him when he exaggerates in his dives like he usually does, but he's not the only player that does it. And yeah, it seems that people saying that Mexico were robbed is mostly an internet-rooting-for-the-underdog thing, though some people are invested in seeing Holland go down in any way possible.

I don't hide the fact that I wanted Mexico to go through, I think that they played some of the best football in the group stage, but I know when and where to give credit when it's due. That's what good sportsmanship should be all about, a fact that a lot of people seems to forget.
