Way we deal with mental health in USA?  Give them drugs that will probably give them worse side effects than their condition.

I was thinking about this earlier. Have there been any spree shooters who weren't on antipsychotic medication? If mental illness were so dangerous, I'd think we'd see a lot more instances of undiagnosed people breaking. Instead, it seems to be the opposite.

I find it very suspicious that an increase in spree shooting and rise of antipsychotic medication use seem to correlate with each other.  I believe it was around the 80s or 90s that more and more people started being prescribed these drugs.  I believe we have more spree shootings than we ever had before.  The only major spree shooting that I can remember before the 80s would be the UT Tower shooting.  Obviously there were more than just that incident but I believe spree shootings have increased a lot since the 80s.

The finger pointing should be more towards these drugs than blaming video games, music, movies, etc...

I'll give you that. Doesn't justify it though.

It doesn't, of course. But this is the inevitable result. Overlegislation of everything looks an awful lot like anarchy.

I think the main problem we have is lobbyist. Billionaires and powerful corperations shouldn't be able to buy and control our shitty corrupt legislators. When large majority's of the American people want certain things and our so called "representatives" vote against these things our system is completely failing. Then furthermore so many of them are able to stay in power for 40 plus years wii no real threat of being removed because of blatant districting abuse....

we have so many problems in this country.

Supreme Court says there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I realize that's a convenient and appealing explanation because it makes a clear enemy out of unsympathetic people (the rich), but it's overly simplistic and I wouldn't even rate it as a major problem. It's not like Congress votes in secret, and career politicians don't stay in Washington for 40 years on their own say so.

The main problem in any democracy is always the population. When people are fat and stupid and just want their bread and circuses (corn and porn, in our case), "more democracy" cannot be the solution. I'm afraid the standard of living is going to have to take a precipitous drop before America pulls its head out of the Doritos bag and any change can take place. Even then, you'll just have a bunch of angry people who have been systematically infantilized, so nothing good is likely to come of it. Simple people want simple solutions and lazy people want easy solutions, but there aren't any to be had.

Some of these opinions make me sick to my stomach.
Freedom = right to bear arms...

If the majority of gun owners are sensible people, do they not see the need to lay down their guns so everyone can enjoy a bit of freedom when they walk out the door?

Oh well, i guess it's just a cultural difference. I have an open mind and if i ever get to visit the USA maybe I'll understand what it exactly is that makes so many people equate gunownership to freedom.

It's no secret that liberals and democrats hate the 2nd amendment.

But anyway, the lesson here is clearly that virginity kills. Girls need to put out more obviously.

I just read he spent hundreds buying lottos in a desperate attempt to get rich to get laid..

all he needed to do was get a hooker..

Really? i thought he already considered himself rich because I saw some of his internet posts where he was basically whining about poor guys with hot girls while none wanted him despite his riches.

He wasn't poor but was not rich, at least from his perpsective.  His family was somewhat well connected in Hollywood, his Mom even once dated Geoge Lucas. He would get invited to movie premiers and got to go backstage at a Katy Perry convert.  This caused him to be around those who were far richer than him and it made him want a much higher level wealth. He thought that would solve his problem of not getting laid.

Question for the Gun rights advocates.  Do you think more countries should be allowed to have nuclear weapons?

So he basically craved even more riches without ever thinking of doing  any sort of meaningful work to get them for himself? I'm not sure what his family's net worth is but I'm pretty sure any family that can simply gift their son a BMW is in the upper 5% at worst. Lastly, he himself recognized that much poorer and far uglier guys than him were with girls he wanted so obviously if he had any brain cells left, he'd have realized that money wasn't necessarily the issue.

Frankly, I don't think the guy ever approached anyone. I haven't see him say that anywhere and he seems pretty open with his life. He proabbly expected girls to just line up because he's the shit and all. Didn't help that he was extremely sexist and racist either.

He also killed half of his victims with a knife. Who's up for some knife control?

Me. We also need more automobile control, starting with those evil BMWs,  as he killed at least one of his victims with his Beamer.

You pro-gun folks sometimes make some really ridiculous arguments. A car's purpose is transportation. A gun's purpose is to kill efficiently. Everything cancause death. Now I don't think a gun ban really solves anything but you guys need to stop these useless comparisons. FYI, you won't win a war with the U.S. govt no matter how many guns you stash. Best case scenario is a bloodbath with 10X the casualties on the civillian side.

thats simply untrue

How so? You'd have to provide much more detail than that if you want to refute a point.
