Could Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire sell more in the first week than Pokemon X and Y?  XY sold just over 4 million FW.

Pros:

-When XY were released, the 3DS had sold about 35M.  It is currently over 44M.  By the time OR/AS come out, the difference will be over 11M at least.

-Many of those new 3DS owners are Pokemon fans, as shown by the strong XY sales this year.  XY still shows up in the weekly top 10.

Cons:

-Remakes never have sold more than the gen-openers in their respective generations.  However, we are only talking about the first week, not lifetime.  So it is not out of the question.

-OR/AS has received very little hype so far, where XY had a ton this time by last year.

I personally do not think its first week will top that of XY.  Although I think it will be over 3M.

So forum, what do you think?  Whether or not you think it will have a better FW, please give your estimate as to how many games you think will be sold in OR/AS's first week.

Probably not... I am gonna say it will sell 2 million first week although playing R/S in XY graphics is a nice treat but we will see... Till then! Hype!!!

It's possible. A Link Between Worlds only did better than Ocarina of Time 3D at launch because.

1. Holiday season vs Summer
2. 3 million install base vs 37 million.

I don't know, I never brought into the Pokemon craze. 2 mill, 3 mill, black, white, red or green games sell. Nintendo printing money.

Anyway lifetime For AS/OR  should be Minimum 6mil Maximum  9mil (maybe10mil)

Edit: OP is wrong, XY didn't do 4mil+ in its first week. It did after 2 weeks (9 days japan+8 days everywhere else)

Wayyy more than Half, XY did between 3.5mil-4mil FW.

OR/AS has an advantage especially if released during Black Friday in the US.

It'll sell FW (this if again released on Saturday) 2.5mil-3mil imo.
