You say it's more about luck than skill, but then you go on to say that the better players win more often than not, which is true, hence skill is most important. And I don't what you mean by the better players being penalized, as items can affect you regardless of what position you're in. And if you don't like the series then stop buying the games! xP

Better players will win more often than not in Mario Kart.  Compare that to other kart racers, games or non kart racers that have weapons, games like Chocobo Racing, Crash Bandicoot, or Wipeout, where you're not penalized the higher the place you're in, and getting a lucky item will barely matter in the long run as the best player will win almost every time.  Compare that the games that don't even have weapons, giving even less of a chance for the best player to lose.

That has nought to do with my point though, being that skill is still the most important thing in Mario Kart. The luck factor is what makes it addictive and highly appealing!

Considering it is like the only Wii U game coming out this year may as well get it.

I don't want to sound like I'm a Nintendo fanboy listing games, but...

Donkey Kong, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, X, Smash Bros., Sonic Boom, unannounced games, possibly SMT x Fire Emblem and Yarn Yoshi...

Super Smash Bros. comes out in winter 2014!

Although there won't be a free game with it (here in Japan), I think I'll get the game.

It's really a good game to bond (or get into a fight? :P ) with people.

No child should be without Mario Kart and no human should be playing Mario Kart alone. Definitely buy it. Also, you get a free game. If anything, buy it, get the free game, and return it if you hate it.

Nope. No free game promotion in Japan.

The Japanese promotion is "test 2 games (out of 6) for 1 month each". Kinda lame...

I disagree. It might be true to say that best player didn't always win but that's as far I'd go. When I played MK Wii a lot online, I expected to win every match, and I usually did. This was regardless of what was thrown at me and the level of the competition because I rarely came across players that were as good as me.

This couldn't happen if the game was more about luck than skill. It was due to me knowing the tracks better than most, being quicker to the first corner, the first item boxes, driving the best line, being able to make those risky short cuts every time and using the items I did get to disrupt those behind me and minimise the chances of them getting close enough to use the weapons they had on me.
