Left 4 Dead.
The first left 4 dead was simply amazing, specifically the versus mode. Eventually it lost its charm, but those first few months of playing were probably the most fun I had with a game last gen.
Half-Life
Both main Half-Life games have changed the single-player FPS scene and in the case of the original it revolutionised it. Both were brilliant, original and polished games, whilst the series is only made better by Episodes 1 & 2.
Everything they've done is amazing though.

Yes. My circle of Steam friends at that time didn't like versus that much, but I loved the times we played versus (They didn't like it because they had to fight against each other. Darn, it's just a game!)
Half-Life. Love the story and pacing.
