Given they provide the majority of support for their own consoles, I should bloody well hope so.

SNES was great because of its 3rd party games (mainly Squaresoft's).

He was insisting on seeing what he wanted to see, after I repeated to him multiple time what my original post was saying. I've made many posts about it, I'm surprised after all the references to the original post to phantom and to Jay that you think it was a trainwreck from both ends. People truly read what they want to read into posts. |
I understood that. You wanted to "win" the argument. When an outsider reads it, it's funny to read for sure. Him saying he agrees that Nintendo is the top publisher, but he meant top software selling system. You saying the Nintendo is # 1. Him saying Sony is #1. It was all too funny. Obviously you were both right from your perspectives, it was just funny to see you guys continue to go at it. It was even more genious that he got so rattled and got himself banned.
Nothing on you, just an observation.
It is near the end of the end....

Wii and WiiU would be largely in Nintendo's favor while PS and PS2 would be largely in Sony's favor . Here is the breakdown:
I won't add it to OP because this thread is about by Publisher, so the efforts on dedicated consoles count on all platforms (portables included). But the exercise was informative nonetheless. |
This to me is the most fascinating part. However, I really want to see Sega numbers. What was Nintendo's software % during all those times, more importantly what is the total combined software sales (minus handheld) from all contestants.
Gen 5 I see like 365.91. Gen 6 it actually declines to 332.32. Then gen 7 we get a massive increase, Wii powerhouses more sales all by itself than ever before, I feat we will likely not see again for at least a couple generations. Total Gen 7 doubles to 713.57. Gen 8 is up in the air at this point.
