I'm not sure. They really made some big pushed with Kinect in Japan - it be a launch country and you could speak in Japanese day one. And I don't think it did that much.
But the WiiU is dominating right now. I guess it depends on the games.

It will do a vita tv... Have a 100k opening week,then quickly fall into irrelevancy. Unless, Microsoft has something truely special in the software department.
Only if MS buys a bunch of established Japanese IPs.
Quite frankly, Japan doesn't matter. PS3 is considered a big success in Japan and it only sold about 10 million units there. MS should focus on selling a 100 million in the west and don't bother buying Japanese exclusives.

Game changer: Microsoft added a media player just now...which you can update to. Will it give Microsoft an edge in japan? Sony better catch up. Sony seems to be sitting back in their easy chair watching the money come in...and seeing their console sell like hotcakes regardless of feedback. Will sony add a media player...time will tell.
