Forums - Gaming - Prediction: Wii U > PS4 lifetime sales in Japan!

A simple prediction I came up with after a whole day of studying maths for my upcoming exam. After seeing the declining sales rate of the PS4 (which is already about to go below Wii U levels) and taking a peek at the upcoming games for the Wii U (Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors)  I can't see how the PS4 is going to ever outsell the Wii U at the rate it's going.

Taking these things into account we can conclude that the gap between the PS4 and the Wii U is going to widen in the coming months in favor of the Wii U. Placing the Wii U 1.5M+ units above the PS4. Even if the PS4 outsells the Wii U for the rest of it's shelf life as it did this week (136 in favor of the PS4) it will take the PS4 too much time to beat the Wii U, so long in fact that the consoles will be both out of the market before it can happen.

There you have it everyone, enjoy my thread.

No, widen? When the big japan games come ps4 will easily surpass wii-u. You dont think sony is done announcing games for japan do you?

I think we will have a good idea after mk8 launches and latest after ffxv/mgsv

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Quote!

Wii U could have Moster Hunter, maybe Pokemon style Stadium, and the classic Mario Kart.

This game can safely outsell any Final Fantasy.

I think 8,000,000 Wii U.

And 7,000,000 PS4.

Another prediction with little to no thought behind it.

So wats your predictions for both consoles lifetime in japan?

Its like you think ps4 going to dominate over there (judging by alot of your recent post)

Frankly it looks like Japan isn't buy much besides some meager sales of the very cheap 3DS....which implies two things;
a) Japan doesn't really want much/too busy working to buy a console
b) Most Japanese are broke. looking at their economy, I'm settling on this one.

No. When the steady stream of PS4 exclusives come in it'll eventually overtake. This gen still has another 4/5 years left you realise? WiiU is only reacting to game bumps and even then it's not been very impressive.

If PS4 slumbers the same then perhaps, but going by how PS3 sells, I doubt it.

So the PS4 exclusives are going to "save" the PS4? Kinda like Super Mario 3D World "saved" the Wii U... right?

They'll have a far more positive impact than WiiU exclusives have had. Wait for Resident Evil, Final Fantasty, Metal Gear Solid ect.

im not so sure about that, seece. have you taken a look at the latest iterations of those games? not only do they not appeal to the japanese gamer, but they are not as critically acclaimed as they used to be.

Domination is a word fanboys like to throw around. WiiU won't sell more than 5 million by the time it gets discontinued. PS4 will certainly beat PS3's sales LTD, not by much though as the market is still shrinking over there.

It's a bit more the former considering lots of them live in apartments so they lack space, the men have 50 hour work weeks so the primary consumer of games is busy. People are often taking public transportation so the market favors portability. The mobile market is booming in Japan for instance.
