Once games like Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, and other Japanese RPGs come out it's bound to do a lot better. Just look at the Vita, it started off slow but its picked up a lot of steam now that devs have finally moved on from the PSP. The PS3 is currently the console of choice for devs, but that's bound to change in a year or so once the PS4 picks up steam. |
The hyperbole of the present. People tend to extrapolate whatever is happening now will persist.
The true litmus test of the PS4 in Japan will come in 2015/2016 when Japanese developers switch their focus. Honestly I am impressed it has sold what it has there given lack of support.

PS4 will pick up when appropriate software launches, but I don't think it will match the PS3 sales lifetime. The Japanese just don't like consoles as they used to.

Out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you use the exact same phrase whenever you refer to ps4 sales in Japan? I've noticed that you use it multiple times even in the same thread and I'm curious to know to know the reason behind it.

Because they keep using old numbers as standards.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
To answer the OP. Why wouldn't they? People make insane predictions that make absolutely no sense and whenever it's pointed out to them just how wrong they were, they either :
a) never admit that they're wrong and even claim that their prediction was correct as "x console still sold low" (though actually double than what they said) ,
b) deflect the question ("this was not my point", "this is not what we're talking about here").
Why be sane when you can be insane without any consequences? They can doom the console out of jealousy and when it starts doing better, they move to another target (usually an underperforming part of the company they can attack). Hence remarks such as "yeah ps4 is doing well but what about vita? What about the rest of the company?". "Yeah 3ds is doing well, but what about wiiu?", "Yeah xbone is (still) one of the fastest selling consoles ever, but look at their history. Let's not forget (the very relevant fact) that MS is greedy". It comes from all fanbases and it's sad.
I mean we have people actually wishing a company goes bankrupt and millions of people to lose their jobs and possibly have their lives ruined just so they can spite the fans of the company? How utterly inhumane is that?

As someone else in this thread has already said, bitterness and wishful thinking.
