Forums - Gaming - Will Sony's PlayStation 4 Be a Bigger Flop Than Nintendo's Wii U in Japan?

FF15 and KH3 will do the job!

Around the Network

Like the Vita, the PS4 will have a revival in a year or so...Japanese devs are slow to adopt to new systems so when they finally come around, PS4 will start pulling in decent sales.

Its hard to compare with Wii U because we don't really know where either console will be in a year...

FF15 and KH3 disagree
Just at the moment there isn't much for them to buy a PS4 for
The moment all the devs they are interested in focus and release their games on the PS4 the console has its breakthrough there

If there is ever a thread that needs to be bumped a year from now, it's this one.

It's kind of funny because the answer is actually in the OP, even if it's cluttered up with the childish stuff. Third party support. The PS4 will have the same Japanese exclusives that the PS3 had. Japanese developers are a lot slower to switch systems, that's been well established in the past, so it's just going to take awhile before they drop PS3 support. When they do, the PS4 will be the system they release games for.

I expect TGS to get some big announcements this year and next, with most of the games releasing late 2015 or in 2016.

Now, for context, I said the exact same thing about the Vita over a year ago. I said that it would take awhile for developers to switch from the PSP but when they did, it would get a fair amount of games. Actually, several of the people in this thread said I was wrong, that all those developers would jump to the 3DS, and that the Vita would be abandoned in Japan. Right now, it's probably getting more third party support than the 3DS. I expect the same thing to happen with the PS4 and I expect the exact same people to argue otherwise.

Yeah no worries, when the Playstation 4 is also available for 1.5 year in Japan. Than we will get conclussions, and if it does way better, it will be a nice necro bump ^^

My question is how come you so happy to have a flop console you felt it is...??

I was wondering the same thing lol. Talk BAD about the PS4 and its games. And asks if it will be a bigger flop than the flop of a console he already has. And THEN says he is happy with his console that is a flop. It makes no sense lol.

On Topic:

While I think that gaming is not as big in Japen anymore. I think once the games actually come out for the PS4 it will do better and eventually outsell the Wii U.

I thought COD was coming to the Wii-U as well.

I doubt it.

You are talking as is COD is ALL that the PS4 has or even will have in Japan. Once more games come out for the PS4 KH3/FF15 for example it will sell better than it is now. And out of curiosity is this an ALT account for someone? You just recently joined but called most of the people on this site hypocrites and talked bad about people who like COD. Seems fishy if you ask me....

Since launch until today it have failed to invigorate the Japanese homeconsole market.

And we already analyze the launch numbers which showed us not to expect a lot. Plus, the supposed stock problems ended being more like a demand problem, not much interest from the audience in the device.

Finally, it already crossed the line with the PS3.
