No it isnt.  The inclusion of the gamepad was at the expense of a decent power upgarde from the last gen presumably.  The Kinect wasn't.  The One is a significant step up from the 360.

Besides, you cant take sales out of the equation when considering the support for a console that consumers have paid cash for.  The legacy of the gamepad (the WiiU in general) is almost catastrophic for Nintendo and those that bought one.

The comparison is almost laughable... I was being polite previously.

Catastrophic for Nintendo? Yes.

Catastrophic for gamers? Not necessarily.  Some people really, authentically like the Gamepad.

Catastrophic for you? Very likely yes. Sound as if you value raw power more than unique/niche game experiences (tbh that's the case for most gamers too).

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

From a gameplay perspective Kinect is useless. But Gamepad is doing more damage to Nintendo tbh.

Nintendo will still release games for the gamepad, althought none of those use it in a meaningful way.

What defines "using the Gamepad in a meaningful way"? It's different things to different people from what I gather.

Here's the list of Gamepad features

-NFC

-Motion control

-Off-tv play

-Extra sound

-Second screen map/Menu

-Second screen control input/mechanics (including blowing on the Gamepad)

If a game offers more than 3 of these, I consider that game to use the Gamepad in a meaningful way...

most games use 3 and more of these features.

Here's the list of Gamepad features

-NFC - There aren't games now that uses that feature, aside from Skylanders

-Motion control  - Wii, Kinect Move, and only few games uses it, like Nintendo Land

-Off-tv play - Ok

-Extra sound - ??? Nothing meaningful

-Second screen map/Menu - ??? Nothing meaningful

-Second screen control input/mechanics (including blowing on the Gamepad) - Nothing meaningful (blowing is akward)

As said, only Nintendo Land and to an extent Zombi U showed us the potential of gamepad. Games supporting Controller Pro show us how important is the gamepad.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

How can in not be catastrophic for gamers if the console doesn't get marketshare, doesnt get games and has a premature death?

The Nintendo games obviously. They're really good. You should try one.

I don't enough about Kinect to say anything about it. The Wii U gamepad is awesome. I'm sorry, I can't pick either choice.

The Wii U gamepad is good. I don't know why anyone would have a problem with it.

Wii U Nintendo Network ID, Borode

XBOX Live ID, Borode

Poll results are surprising.

Neither has much of a legacy after just 6 months to a year and a half. Let's wait another five or six years before we even start with this.

That being said, at least the gamepad has uses in gaming :P

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

There both fine products and unique to each other. The games will come its only a matter of time. For now just enjoy the features these devices bring like extra screen for maps on WiiU or auto sign in for X1 etc.
