I think it will eclipse Prime 2. It's been out three months and is roughly half way there. How many units had Metroid sold three months in?

It will eventually drag out to a million with DD... But I doubt that it will do much more. Too bad, it looks like a whole lot of fun :(

I have a theory, which is that the last Donkey Kong game sold so well because the average parent saw it as a typical colourful platformer, and that they were surprised by how hard the game was, basically, they expected something more similar to Mario than Battletoads, so, they got burned, and are not going to buy the new Donkey Kong game for their kid.
Install base matter, but Donkey Kong isn't selling as well as it should even taking into account that.
I think it may sell over 2 millions in the long run, basically, it will sell like Super Ghouls and Ghosts or Maximo + people who buy it because it is a recognizable Nintendo franchise.

I hope not. Maybe that'll teach them to stop releasing 2D Donkey Kong games on home consoles. Maybe then they'll port TF to 3DS, like they originally should have, and make a 3D open world Donkey Kong game that isn't a collect-a-thin on the Wii U. Hopefully the next DKCR game is released on a handheld this time.
