Forums - Microsoft Discussion - British mag unveiling Goldeneye on XBLA this Wednessday?

My thoughts:

Uh oh... the important line here is "how we can make sure this incredible remake does see the light of day." Sounds like these guys just broke a press blackout to try and tout a game, which could mean some baaaaaad stuff is going to happen. Major lawsuits, and possibly the end of the magazine.

Obviously Microsoft wouldn't be giving some random British magazine a big exclusive like this. It looks like this is the game that was developed then not published because of licensing disputes, and from their wording nothing has changed, except this magazine's future. These people are going to be in trouble. Good to know it exists though I guess... I'm sure we'll find out more Wednessday, at the funeral of Xbox World 360 magazine.

I'm not sure I understand how breaking a press blackout could lead to major lawsuits and possibly the end of this magazine, but maybe I didn't pay attention that day in law school (very possible).  Can you explain?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Yeah Goldeneye is still a perfect FPS to play today, I don't understand how people can call it slow at all, it's still well paced and just joyful to play. It's still better than most shooters released these days.

I came a little when I saw that screeny! :( If and when I eventually get a 360 that will be on the must-buy if it is for real.

For now, I need the bloody thing on VC already!

I still have it for N 64 and it's my favorite game of all time, and no its not slow. It is relativley smooth in 4 player even. How they did it back then I'll never know.

Goldeneye was great for its day but it would not even compare with the games of today. Its like saying Super Mario 64 looks just as good as Super Mario Galaxy. You would have to be on crack to make such a statement.

No one ever said anything about looks Dark_Lord, fact is Goldeneye does play better than most shooters of today, as does Super Mario 64 in regards to platformers.

You'd have be the one on crack to say the likes of Crysis or Halo etc are better than Goldeneye! :P

They need to bring Goldeneye & Perfect Dark to XBLA already. while their at it can we get one of the Killer Instincts...

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

oh holy sh*t this could mean that skater boy and surfer girl are true insiders because in skater boy blog he claims that goldeneye was going to go to XBL and not to VC.

"The story in Xbox World 360 is based entirely on rumour and speculation. Unfortunately, we were never contacted by the publication to confirm information or participate in the story in any way, as we would have confirmed that we do not have the necessary rights to release GoldenEye on Xbox Live Arcade."

Not sure if this is true but it looks real.
