Forums - Gaming - The Division: 2015 "a bit optimistic", devs don't want to "do a Battlefield"

Seen on Gaf.

Last night it was confirmed by Ubisoft that The Division would indeed not see release in 2014.

With this announcement fresh in mind, we've been updated by our source on where the game is currently, with Ubisoft bringing in several external developers to the project (Reflections and Red Storm confirmed), and an increased budget to ensure a fantastic end result.
[....]
Finally our source tells us of how annoyed people at the studio were at Ubisoft without consulting with Massive when they revealed a 2014 street date at last year's E3.

"It felt like being punched in the face to be perfectly honest. At the end of the day we don't want to do a Battlefield 4 and release an unfinished game. There's too much potential in the concept that is The Division at the moment, that we've asked for more time and resources in order to fully realise this fantastic vision."

Good on them. Game looks very big and ambitious, so they gotta have the time to get it right.

That said, if 2015 is really optimistic then Ubisoft REALLY jumped the gun with last years 2014 announcement

Ubisoft needs to quit have release dates/windows before the game is even ready... Watch_Dogs got delayed and now this... Come on guys :/

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Damn I would rather play BF4 (lets be honest I won't be as bad in late 2015 unless Ubi really pulled the 2014 really deep from the corporate ass) than not play until sometime in 2016 :-/

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I'm so happy "do a Battlefield" has become a thing.

Bask in that shame, you bastards.

Ubisoft are having big problems with announcing games to way early. they should have announced Far Cry 4 last year at E3 with announcing the division at this years E3

I'm starting to believe these delays are fabricated and the games weren't even planned to come out earlier.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Ubi Delays = Necessary time to downgrade games

Good news. Battlefield 3 and especially 4 have butchered that series into trash. 2, 2142, and BC2 are some of the best games ever also....Really is a shame, and they deserve to have a phrase coined on the failure.
