Forums - Sales - How well do you think X/Bayonetta 2/Hyrule warriors will sell?

I'd be amazed if any of them get over a million units sold.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

The only one that might even pass a half a million is Hyrule Warriors... and X will crawl at 300,000 and I doubt Bayonetta 2 could even pass 100,000

I'm curious about those thinking Bayonetta 2 has a chance of selling a million or more, how will this happen? The first one barely clawed its way past the million mark on the PS3. Sure, it's an exclusive, but I just don't see a very big audience for it on the Wii U. Look at ZombiU with extensive bundling and good marketing; it has yet to reach 700k lifetime.

Nintendo magical sales.

X will sell like 5million copies! Nobody wants to repeat the same mistake like Xenoblade.

Maybe if they were on ps4 every game on their has sold a million

I am looking at these posts thinking why are so many people being pessimistic and I see few people intentionaly posting extremely low ball estimations and some of them probably hope that those games flop because it is not ontheir favorite/prefered platform...

Bayonetta has over two million copies/units sold on HD Twins so you have two million people that played the game and if three quarter of them liked the game then I am sure half of them will likely buy the sequel and may or may not own a Wii U. Now consider that there are Nintendo fans that did not play thhe original even when they owned either of HD twins and that there are others that would like to play the sequel even when they did not experienced the original so they might buy a Wii U...

I m sure that Bayonetta 2's LTD will be in worst case scenario 500K with 1 million being more likely and in best case scenario it could reach 1.5 million if it has long legs.

You people are ignoring that Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to Wii U and is being published by Nintendo which gives two reasons for Nintendo fans, people that on a Wii U and those that will own it in future...

My guess is an well researched and educated guess anyway do not forget that Bayonetra 2's Wii U exclusivity was extremely controversial and was such a megaton that even NeoGAF crashed/was unaccessible plus it was extremely big news, Bayonetta 2 had the ultimate PR bombshell which equates to a Gigaton from the get go and you people are seriously underestimating...

Yes there are no 3rd party multi-million sellers on Wii U yet Lego City Undercover sold 750K and ZombiU sold 660K and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate 500K. Capcom said MHTU is a smash hit which mens it was really really popular and Lego City Undercover apparently sold enough to be profitable and ZombiU was not profitable thanks to Ubisoft since it started as Wii game then switched to Xbox 360 and finally the Wii U so expenses accumulated...

ZombiU was a launch game and MHTU and LCU were launch window titles nd Wii U launched with a lot of games so they had stiff competition compared to Xbox One or PlayStation 4 that launched with considerably less games.

Now I think Hyrule Warriors has a good chance of breaking 1 million because Musou type games are popular in Japan and Zelda is more popular in the west so this is a neat combination and I saw on a lot of forums interest in Hyrule Warriors because it was a Zelda game in Warriors form with nearly hundreds of enemies on screen and is an hack and slash afterall it really peaked the interest of western gamers.

Hyrule Warriors to western gamers is "hardcore" or more "mature" in a way, also Zelda fans will love it because they wanted big battles and it may depict that ancient war of good and evil in TLOZ universe...

Now about Monolith Soft's X, I see a lot of low ball estkmates and uneducated guesses and it seems some expect to flop because Xenoblade Chronicles didnt sell well which is factually wrong as every copy/unit produced was sold so you have 800+K copies/units sold and these copies were sold out in each region they were released in matter of weeks so you could not find a brand new copy of this game one month after it launched.

Vast majority of people that played it liked it alot so I doubt that these people wont buy Monolith Soft X.

Monolith Soft X has a lot of selling points, it is a JRPG, Open-World, has Mechs(that can also fly), large monsters, it is a sequel of Xenoblade Chronicles which is a really well received game and touted as one of the best JRPGs of seventh generation, its artstyle and visuals are good, it is developed by people that worked on Xenogears, Front Mission series, Final Fantasy series, Chrono series and other amazing games....

It will sell more than a million, it has a good chance of breaking two million... If lucky even three million.

Does PlayStation 4 has any notable JRPGs? No, mostly niche that sell 100-250K at best like Project Diva F. Does Xbox One has some? NOPE... Wii U has X this year, only real notable/important next gen RPG this year...

Persona 5 is on PlayStation 3, Sony really dropped the ball...

Soon is Mario Kart 8 out, sales could jump really high and if for a week or two it goes 100K and few weeks above 50K then Wii U install base could increase by 250-300K in one month...

Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 are further fuel the momentum that Mario Kart 8 is going to create then finally X and SSBU that will even further fuel it and all of these games will benefit from it.

These games will sell decently, you will eat crows because of your ignorance...

Bayo will bomb hard, Hyrule warrios about 1M lifetime

Each of these games are pretty different, so I'm going to guess their lifetime sales separately.

Hyrule Warriors benefits from being both a Zelda and Warriors game. Samurai Warriors 3 sold over 300,000 copies on the Wii alone, so I'm expecting at least that many sales for Hyrule Warriors there, especially after the sucess of One Piece Warriors on the PS3. In the West, meanwhile, Zelda is a big enough game to lend some star power, but has had few spinoffs. The closest equivalents are Link's Crossbow Training (a multi-million seller, but on a much more popular console) and Four Swords Adventures for the GameCube (which was on an unsucessful platform and required a bunch of extra hardware). Based on these figures, I expect Hyrule Warriors to sell something like 500,000 copies in America lifetime, or about as many as WInd Waker HD, a remake of one of the less popular entries, has sold in six months. So in total, I expect something aroun a million copies sold lifetime, but no more than 1.5 million.

Bayonetta 2 is hard to judge for its own reasons. The original sold 2 million, but its most sucessful platform, the PS3, suffered from terrible optimization. Worst case scenario, I imagine Bayonetta 2 selling 600,000 lifetime, somewhat less than the 360 version. However, with good reviews, the Wii U possibly picking up momentum after Mario Kart and during the holidays, and the possible inclusion of the original Bayonetta in the package, I feel the game can do a bit over a million sales.

Last, X.I think this game has the best potential of the trio. Xenoblade sold about 850,000 copies, but supplies were constrained in the West, especially America. Assuming X is of similar quality, and the fact that Nintendo is actually hyping the game this time, I see no reason for it not to sell at least 1 million, and as much as 1.5 million. For comparison's sake, Tales of Symphonia, a worse received game than Xenoblade, sold 1.1 million on the GameCube, so a well received JRPG can do that well on a system like the Wii U.

If they do an incredible job promoting Bayonetta 2 I think it could do very well. Advertise it, hype it like they did with Mario Kart 8 and (in an ideal dream) package a port of Bayo 1 with it.

I'd imagine many people who by a Wii U for smash (And I think there will be far more than a million) will get Bayo 2 so they have another highly praised beat em up to play (Assuming it is highly praised). Nobody buys a console and only ever gets one game for it... right?

Hyrule warriors will also appeal to many of the smash bros crowd.

People are saying that these games will be a success but honestly I doubt any of the three will sell over 1 million. I'm almost sure the games will be very well made and I will enjoy them greatly but according to previous games on the Wii U it won't sell well. Don't believe me look.

Scribblenauts Unlimited - 0.21 Million     3% of userbase

Scribblenauts Unmasked - 0.03 Million     0,5% of userbase

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 0.49 Million     8% of userbase

Sonic Lost World - 0.22 Million      3,5% of userbase

Lego City Undercover - 0.75 Million     12% of userbase

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic winter games - 0.36 Million     6% of userbase

The Wonderful 101 - 0.20 Million     3% of userbase

(Numbers taken from Vgchartz)

All of these games are from third parties but none passed 1 Mill. Hopefully nintendo will advertise the aforementioned games more raising sales up higher than I expect but I doubt it. What do you think? Are you more optimistic?

L.A. Noire

Resident Evil 6

Exclusives selling 3% of userbase:
