I hope Ninty doesn't lose this one... I'm starting to worry. If I read it correctly, if Nintendo loses this case then they will no longer be able to sell Wii Us? Jesus, it seems everybody is trying to take shots at Nintendo. Because of the crazy negative media attention they are an easy target.

Plus they make the most lightbulbs! 

How typical.

File vague patents, wait for someone to release a product.  Don't sue them right away, wait until years later and millions of units shipped and that company and product are firmly invested and all in. 

THEN suddenly sue only when the product is successful (regardless of Wii U doom and gloom I'd love to sell 6.2 million of anything and be second place!).

These kind of patent troll actions usually indicate a company soon gasping it's last breaths and stuggling to stay alive.

After a little digging, the original patent was filed in 1996, the more specific patent in 2003. However publication date was in 2011 (Dunno how that works), at which time Philips notified Nintendo, I guess to make a licensing deal from then forth. Nintendo ignored them and these kind of injunctions are just a step to get the other party's attention, those rarely follow through.

Blame the US patent system. How come a Dutch company is suing a Japanes company in the District of Delaware.

This lawsuit seems redundant. Nintendo isn't selling any Wii U's to begin with.
