and npd tracks  95% or more of the whole us market.

how can that be an estimation by defintion?

He is doing poor damage control about NPD. NPD is the most accurate thing for USA's numbers, used by MS/Sony/Nintendo, but since it's showing that PS4 beats Xbone, he is doing poor damage control as the op of this thread. Simple as that.

extrapolate ist tracking 5% of the market  and give a 100% result out of it

but tracking 95% ist just tracking 95% of the whole market.

even if that extrapolate or estimate, if we wanne call it that way, for the last of the 5% woul be 100% wrong (wich should be very doubtful, if u got 95% of 100% correct data to guess the rest) the number would be a minimum of 95% correct.

 

but okay maybe this is his conspiracy theory:

that 5% of the very smallest shops, that doesnt report data to npd can sell 100k or more of consoles. in that case. npd could be way off with theire figures...

This thread uses unoficial numbers from suposed "insiders". People that have access to those numbers can´t tell the figures unless they are disclaimed by the companies. Go ahead, ask any game jornalist in the twitter. I asked, they don´t know, and in fact, they don´t care unless it a major event like January (not February, sry) 2 to 1. And we only know the final numbers because Microsoft disclaimed them at that time.

And unless Sony started to play the humble winner I can´t understand why in the last two months they didn´t say the outsold the competition by more than twice COMBINED, if we belive those Neogaf insiders.

Remember that Thuway used to be one of those trusted insiders.


You clearly haven't read or ignore the methods of prediction of the site... it's based of polled numbers, sample from some sellers, etc... it isn't inside information from Sony or MS or NPD... please just stop trying to say NPD is as broke as VGC or that just because MS or Sony haven't told the numbers than we don't know... or do you think MS is silent and killed Kinect just for fun?

Guess we have no way to know if your prediction will ever become true since there is no accurate metric to measure console sales in the US.
