Well .. they weren't exactly sold, they were merely given away for free with the Titanfall bundles. |
Still sold.

X1 is doing very good in US and UK, just like X360 did last generation.
It would only mean a good healthy console market. :P which is good btw for the few who cant see that.

That link only applies to UK. Your OP, however, involves the US. -_-"
I guess you missed this earlier:
"There were five SKU's in the top 10 not represented in the top 10 when ranked on a title basis (combination of SKUs across platforms), which were: 3DS Yoshi's New Island; PS4 Infamous: Second Son; PS3 MLB 14: The Show; XBO Kinect Sports Rivals; 360 Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare." (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/05/15/april-npd-ps4-titanfall-lead-sales-again/ )
"The April NPD report confirmed that PlayStation 4 was the top selling next generation console and remains the cumulative leader. in addition, inFAMOUS: Second Son was the top selling next gen software title in April." (http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/05/15/sony-reacts-to-april-npd-victory-for-ps4-infamous-second-son-best-selling-next-gen-game/)
And the X1 isn't doing well. It's April NPD did worse than any of the 360's April NPD's (except for this April).
X1 did very well in 2013 launch, due to pent up next-gen demand and Xbox's most loyal fanbase willing to buy absolutely anything with the Xbox logo.
X1 is doing ferociously bad in 2014. It remains to be seen if $399 will turn things, but I doubt it will matter much. With the removal of Kinect it's just a weaker PS4 for the same price.
It's dead in Europe outside of the UK.
It's going to be hilariously bad in Japan. Like AMAZEBALLS BOMBA.
And even in the US, Xbox's previous stronghold, it's struggling mightily.
It's the most front-loaded launch of all time, easily. 360 started solid and remained so for years. X1 started amazing for the first 2 months and then promptly threw itself into a death spiral. And hell, Gen7 proved that brand loyalty is a myth in the US. It's all about 'what can you do for me now'? Oh, a weaker console for the same price? Nope.
$299 will change things, as it will bring the masses onboard, and there will be more people willing to drop $$ on less advanced hardware just to play their favorite series. But how soon will we see that price point met? 2015 at the earliest probably. I will bet we see $349 in some fashion this fall though, the competition is simply too tough to sit on $399 if they find themselves losing every NPD.
Social/market inertia is critical, and it's very hard to overcome a huge early failure. More gamers will already own the competing console, and people are simply more likely to follow suit. Devs are more tempted to support the leading platform as well, and exclusivity costs more for the losers in this industry. Vicious cycle.
Early launch + way lower price than the competition was a huge win for 360 last gen. That's all gone like the wind this time. XB1 isn't ever going to be #1. It's just a question of being close or getting annihilated.
Wow, this has been entertaining to say the least. Sales can certainly turn around quickly with unforeseen factors but it seems the original poster is just not taking into account many of the things that have been repeatably pointed out. I can see the Xbox One catching or even passing the PS4 in the USA at some point in time but certainly not in the time frame being outlined. At this point it seems unlikely to happen for quite some time if at all.

I really wonder what Microsoft did to you personnaly to hate/bash them that much and wishing so much bad news for the Xbox community... *abandoned support prematurely for my favorite xbox console *broke 2 of my 360s *charged me for wifi and hdd peripherals, since there isn't an ethernet port where my gaming tv is and I like to save my games. this wasn't an "optional" thing *Launched forced bundling a peripheral that I bought and got bored of previous generation with a promise that it would be new *charged me for a premium service for an entire generation that had ads on it, but was required for me to use basic internet features *killed my dog *Have yet to make successors, not including Halo, for my favorite 3rd party exclusives on the first system But I don't hate them, I just don't like being taken advantage of. And if its Microsoft as a whole: *Bill Gates Retired *Windows 8 Also becarefull while talking about the Xbox fanbase in these terms; there are other ways to share you "own" oppinion (even it is certainly shared by the whole Playstation fanbase)... Critizing Generalization whilst making a Generalization yourself; Superb. |

All of your reasons were at least good (or funny would be a better word) until Windows 8...
I'm calling out the 'terms' he is using, not the generalization...
And yes, the majority of (FANS) are usually sharing the same vision about the 'opposing' console (Xbox or Playstation fans...); I have no problem with that and never said anything about it. Stop making things out please.

Its not that i hated Windows 8, its just it wasn't a game changer like XP -(Vista) -> 7.
The main speed increases could be easily done with on a W7 with 6gb of ram(speed), that sleeps instead of shuts down(quick boot)
If I had a tablet maybe even touch enabled PC I would perhaps give a shit but I can't fathom how anyone would put windows 8 on a non touch capable the device, fyi the retailer sold me a pc without touch but preinstalled with W8.
I was pretty Salty about that.

I tried to avoid this thread, as it seems like a no win scenario for all involved.
Clearly, "the Drill" has to be a plant. No way anyone would argue the points that they are with no consideration of any reply to them. I have and XB1, but I think I would not have wasted so many hours defending it's sales numbers. In the end, the # are what they are...
It is near the end of the end....
