Probably true but I guess in fact if there was no PSP the DS would have sold more especially in some European countries.

Well, some people who get the PSP get it for the multimedia apsects in favor of the games. Those people would not have considered a DS. Also, we dont know how many people own both. But I do agree that the number of DS's sold would have been larger.

He stole that from my post >_<

But if Sony hadn't provided the pressure, Nintendo may have kept the GBA going longer. And instead of making the DS, they might have just made a GBA+ or something like the PSP.
That is why it is difficult to argue the "What IF". There can be soo many possibilities.

I don't think Nintendo is that kind of game company, If they saw that the GC was selling not so good and never will they would have launched the wii earlier....I guess they just take their time.

Just to note that Sony may have 30% of the hardware (handheld) market - but what about software? That is where the real money is made anyway...
In Japan, its currently 69m:11m - a solid 6.4:1 ratio.
Or in other words, PSP has (had) 13.5% of the software market - NDS a measely 86%.
(of course if you base this on the "current" software trends - last week it was closer to 10:1 (or the PSP owning approx 9% of the current handheld, software market).
...
Worldwide its roughly(*) 95m:16m, or 6:1 (ratio seems about right).
Which is pretty close to the Japan, sale-to-date ratios (14% PSP, 86% NDS). This is ignoring the GBA of course - listed at 131m.
(* - got these figures by using this page , selecting a console and using the software totals at the bottom of the page. Not accurate, but presuming that the same inaccuracies apply to both the DS & PSP...).

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Wow. But I bet someone can take away all of the Training games and, suddenly, we have a 1:1 ratio.
/joke. OR is it?
