Forums - Nintendo - Playing Metroid Fusion (complete)

I don't believe I'm that far into it (stopped playing it and have no recollection of where I am)...
But I was enjoying it...
I feel like I've seen a lot of Metroid fans declare Fusion their favorite...
I'm trying to get through Other M right now; maybe after that I'll start Fusion over...

Have a nice day...

By the time I finish it, it may be my favorite. We'll see. Its certainly good.

I also played it for the first time on Wii U's Virtual Console. It's definitely a great Metroid game, it's a bit on the short side (but so was Super Metroid) and you are limited in your choices of where to go next but the boss fights are really great. You take so much damage that you have to figure out their patterns, you can't simply pump them full of missiles and hope they die before you (which is still my strategy for Phantoon in Super Metroid).

Signature goes here!

Fusion is almost as good as Super Metroid in almost every aspect: boss battles, difficulty, controls, etc... It's a really awesome game!

This one is my favorite in the series. Enjoy the rest of it.

Really?  Now I've never heard that.  Why is it your favorite?  Was it the first you played?  The first you beat?

It's just a mix of good things. Super Metroid's gameplay aged horribly IMO and Zero Mission albeit having fantastic controls (even better than Fusion) is extremely short. I guess Prime 3 is tied to it.

Do you wall jump in Super Metroid?  I really can't agree with the gameplay aging...but that's just my opinion, of course.  It really bothered me the way they nerfed that aspect of the game in Fusion.  But I'm glad you're enjoying it.  I probably enjoyed it more before I played Metroid: Other M.

If you like Fusion, you'll probably love Zero Mission: the bosses aren't as good, unfortunately, but it largely omits Fusion's biggest sin: restricting your freedom of movement.

Totally agree. As good as Fusion is, Zero Mission is even better. It might be the best handheld game I've played.

Agree, Fusion is a great game. It also opens up more and more, and you get less directions to where you should go.

I still like Super Metroid more though, but Fusion is a great game on its own rights.

Haven't played Zero Mission yet, so I'm really looking forward to that as well. Once I've finished that, I've finished every game in the series!

Yep.

Yeah I do. and it sucks that it was nerfed in Fusion, though the way Fusion was designed you wouldn't need it. Zero Misson fixed that though.
