Will we see any sub 720p games from the Xbox One or PS4 this generation?

This is more aimed at the Xbox One as it is less powerful than the PS4. I think that we may see a couple of games below 720p, but not many. With Watch Dogs and Titanfall at 792p, we are getting close to 720p.

But seriously, if we do, I would laugh! Probably not though cause I think its basically a min requirement to run 720p reguardless of how good/bad the game might look at that res

certainly the gaming industry is 99% idiots.

Instead of offering better games we will end up in getting the same shit every year (again) and then the only thing left is making the games look better. Then the people that actually offer somewhat new experiences will feel forced to also make the visuals better otherwhise noone would buy their "ugly" games. This again will result in lowering resolutions like 600x720p so they can still say its 720p etc. And you will again get sub 20FPS games.

Todays "gamers" dont care because most of them are not gamers but mainstreamers. When most early buyers (most fanatic fans) are again outnumbered by the mainstreamers you will again see everything going down the pooper.

Woah that's quite a lot. It could well happen then. Although the list also kind of backs up my other point. GTA 4 and RDR were in that list and I can't remember anyone ever complaining about them not looking good enough.

Cause resolution wars are more of a recent thing.

doubtful. Technically every game could be overloaded with effects and a locked 100FPS framerate to force sub HD outputs, but what's the point?

Unless there's a game aiming for 720p or 792p on PS4, there won't be a sub HD ones on X1.
Developers only started making games for next gen consoles. If anything resolution (and/or graphical fidelity) should increase starting this holiday season or next year.

If you look at game series (GTA, Uncharted, Gears of War, Elder Scrolls) they either increased their resolution with the most recent game in the series or at least hold them and still manage to look vastly superior to their predecessors.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim = 1280x720 (likely FXAA)
Fifa 2006 = 1024x576 (2xAA)
