I'm pretty sure there was a thread here a couple months ago talking about how MS would never remove the Kinect, but I can't find it (this sites' search function is freaking useless...), does someone know what I'm talking about and can maybe give me a link?

I think a bit of lighthearted teasing is in order.

Thanks, but that's not it, it was I think from last year and the OP was explaining how it would be stupid of MS to remove the Kinect.

Color me quite surprised. I was assuming they would simply create more Kinect software to show it's value. I guess KSR was all they had :/

A 399 price point will most certainly be better for them than a 499 price point. I'm still not sure it's enough to get sales parity with PS4 even in the US or EU outside of the UK. Good news for X1 customers in the near term at least.

I'm also curious as to what this does to the bottom line. Most people thought the parts of kinect were 70-80 dollars. This price cut is more than that. Are they simply re-purposing X1's they have in warehouses(which is still expensive) or is does this mean changes in production(also expensive). I have a feeling they will be losing far more than 20-25 dollars per X1 because of this decision.

Well, that didn't take long! xD

So people complain about Kinect being included for a whole year and then they remove and now people complain MS is giving up on Kinect? Their truly is no pleasing some of you guys. MS could give the Xbox One away for free and people would find something to complain about.

You do realise that the people complaining about Kinect ibeing included with the X1 are not necessary the people that are complaining about them dropping Kinect. Think about it for a second. Unless you can point out the people that have contradicted themselves then there is no point in the statement you made.

I wish I could keep tabs on everybody on the internet but sadly I don't have the power that the NSA has.

Solid move from MS. Now it is really just down to exclusives.

I wonder if Sony is willing and/or able to counter.

So I wake up and see the bomb has been dropped. Been a long time coming

And all those who defended Microsoft for including Kinect as mandatory. I wonder where then stand now...?

I would have liked a price cut on the whole sku and then an even cheaper Kinect less sku.
Now they risk to see the Kinect attach ratio sink like a rock and loose the willingness of third party developer to even consider a Kinect title.
Something like 429$ with kinect and 350$ without would be better imo.
still, they can compensate by giving a game and a controller or 1 year of Xbox Live Gold with the Kinect sku.

The world may never know.

I bought the X1 with Kinect, Titanfall, and a 1 year sub, all for $450. No regrets. Sounds like an awesome bundle deal compared to X1 alone for $399.
