Forums - Nintendo - How much is a used 3DS plus these used games worth (Mario Kart 7, Pokemon Y and Pokemon Rumble Blast)

I've been thinking about getting a DS Lite, DSi XL or 3DS for a long, long time. My nephew sent me a text earlier asking if I'd be interested in buying his 3DS with the aformentioned games for $80-100 in order to buy some shoes from a friend (lol, reminds me of my high school days). I told him I'd swing by later to check out the 3DS, and it's in good condition, I'd give him $100 minimum.

Could I get a similar deal at a store or online? I'm shrewd when it comes to deals and money. but he's also my nephew, so I want to help the little dude out. If it's a bargain for me, I'll give him more than the $100 we talked about. So help me out and put a monetary value on the 3DS and games, please and thank you.

And while you're at it, talk about which was (or is) more important to you in high school: games, or clothes and shoes.

I would say $100 since its used and probably has no warranty! Oh and never get a DS anymore since they are not really worth it and the 3ds can play DS games... And also, before you get a 3ds, always check the screen and I mean in "3d" cause from my experience, most used 3ds has a scratch on the screen which really ruins the experience if you ever use the 3d feature

Ooh, thanks for the tip! I should have mentioned that I was considering a DS because I have a pile of GBA games that I have yet to play because my GBA bit the dust about a year ago. :( Several of the GBA games on Wii U are ones that I own and never got a chance to play, so it just made things more complicated!

I'll probably get a used GBA eventually. I highly doubt Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Super Gunstar Heroes and Tales of Phantasia are hitting the eShop anytime soon.

Dude if that 3DS is in good condition, all that for $100 is a good deal

Pokemon Y and MK7 alone still go for near full price. Rumble Blast is crappy but consider it a bonus. Ask him how long he's had the 3DS for and if it functions fine then grab it.

Worth way more than $100, the lowest I've seen a 3DS is around $120 on craigslist and that's with no games included.

If you go by Gamestop prices, those three games would probably be worth about $75, and the 3DS would be $120 at the cheapest. If you go by what it typically goes for on Ebay, you could probably get it all for $100 or less with little trouble. A quick ebay search shows several offers for the console at $50-$60, and the games from $10-$20 each. $100 for your nephew seems totally fair for the condition you're getting it in.

Wait a second, who the fuck sells their gaming system for shoes? What the hell is so good about these shoes? Pfft, his lost. In my high school days, you only sold game systems to fund your relationship.

You can't get a deal like that anywhere. Even if you don't end up liking it, you could flip that for a sizeable profit on eBay.

Hey guys, thanks for all your input. Thanks to you guys, I decided to go ahead and make it happen. I can hardly contain my excitement! Do you know how many fabulous games I've missed out on FOR THE PAST DECADE!? Pokemon, Fire Emblem, The World Ends With You, Castlevania, here I come!*

*OK, I'm going to add them to my tremendous pile of games and, if my calculations are correct, get to them in 18-24 months, unless I mix them in with my current backlog system. So I should be playing The Wonderful 101 by 2018!

Black kids, man, black kids.  We all place our pride and values in different things. For many of this sites, it's collecting rare games. For a lot of men out there, it's cars or guns. For many teens in black communities, its shoes. As silly as it sounds to me now, I was in his spot a little over a decade ago, and I remember the dilemma. I wanted to give him a talk about how he shouldn't place so much important on things that will be irrelevant in a short time, but I remember the pressure of wanting to gain respect and acceptance through material possessions. At the very least, to not be teased or judged by them and just fit in.

So I'm not going to lecture him on it too bad. I'll let him know my maturation experiences when I was about his age and I stopped worrying about keeping up with the Jones' and got back to just trying to have fun.
