Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 pushes Wii U to the limit?

X looks very good, if I was to go by the first two trailers.  But then this is Nintendo we are talking here, ok.  Wait for the game to release to make a final judgement.

Pong can be 1080p 60fps. That just shows a complete lack of knowing how graphics works.

But Gran Tourismo 6 can't. Lol. (BTW, you were discussing it's graphical shortcomings I was discussing it's performance supremacy.)

The fuck does that have to do with anything?

In short, MK8 looks crap compared to modern games.

And performs way better. (That was my point)

Yeah..... Performance over Quality

Sorry, the PS3 & X360 is not in the Wii U's ballpark.  It's not even close.  Look up "Retro Studios & Shin'en" (developers that actually develope for Nintendo's console) about the Wii U's power.  Look at the Zelda E3 demo.  Hell, look at the Bayonetta 2 trailer.  You're getting information from the wrong people.

"Powerful" is defined as something of great power or strength. "Great" is defined as something considerably above the average.

As a point of reference, the PS4's GPU peak is more than 5 times higher than the WiiU's (1.84tflops/s vs 0.352tflops/s). The capabilities of the PS4 are just above average compared to those of a high end PC, thus it can't be considered powerful since it fails to hit the "considerably above average" level needed to fit the definition.

I'm sure you can understand that if even the PS4 can't be considered powerful, there is no way in hell the WiiU can be :p Nintendo specific developers can dress it up however which way they like, it won't change the WiiU's hardware, nor stop it being outclassed by both its competitors, who are in tern outclassed by what is available on the market.

Retro Studios: "Wii U is a powerhouse".

Those numbers looks good on paper.  The Wii U has a slower CPU then the PS3 & X360 on paper, but is a lot powerful then both.  The Wii U has eDRAM.   Look up what developers say about the Wii U (the developers that actually develope for Nintendo's console).  Sony and Microsoft can't tell you its power.  Their first party studios can't tell you it's power.  The Wii U has been taken apart and no one can tell you its full power.  Only Nintendo and the developers know what the Wii U can do.  Its a powerful console, more then it gets credit for.

Remember F Zero X.

Poor graphic but running at 60fps even on 4 player.

Thats on 1998.

Mario Kart 8 might not be the most technically impressive game out there, but, personally, I feel like it's the most visually pleasing one. That's of course down to taste, but in the end, it's what matters to me. Note that I'm referring to the game in motion, not in screenshots.

With that said, while I don't know if Wii U will have a game that will look better than MK8 (to me at least) in he future, I'm fairly certain that games like Bayonetta 2 or Monolith Soft's X will be more demanding on the system, in X's cases just from the sheer scope of the game.

Shocking, a Nintendo specific developer is making statements that reflect well on their product! It's almost as though they are a company trying to sell something o:

I literally just explained to you why the PS4, a console several times more powerful than the WiiU, can't be considerd powerful, yet you are still blathering on that the WiiU is? Or are you going to try and argue the WiiU is more powerful than the PS4 now?

It must be nice to have such low expectations for hardware.

Retro Studios says differently, and I will believe them any day over you.  Don't take my word for it, look it up on Gamespot.

You don't need to believe me. Go look up the WiiU's specs. Rare can't magically make the WiiU's 2GB of DRR3 RAM@1600MHz faster than the PS4's 8GB of GDDR5 RAM@5500MHz. It can't suddenly give the CPU more cores and a higher clock rate. They can't make the WiiU's 320 GPU shaders better than the PS4's 1152. They can't make its GPU peak of 0.352tflops/s higher than the PS4's 1.84tflops/s.

These aren't opinions, they aren't PR statements from a company trying to sell you something. They are stong cold facts that you can confirmed on thousands of sites.

I'm rather bored of repeating myself, so I won't bother replying again. If you want to be willfully ignorant then by all means, go ahead ^^

Please don't respond because I've been bored.  I have said nothing about the PS4.  I said the Wii U is very powerful and the PS3/X360 is not in its league. You're the ignorant person that's trying really hard to get the PS4 to rub shoulders with the Wii U.  This is a Nintendo thread and I'm not thinking about the Playstation 4.
