Out of curiosity, how often does Sony check online for your ps+-membership? |
Not got one. Don't want it either at the moment. I did get one end of last year, I went for about 2 weeks once without loggin in because I wasn't in my home. I came back and it was still working. It's like it has a expiry date attached to it or something, I pay for 3 month period and it sets a date on it, once that date passes it expires.
Hmm, pie.
My main concern that was not listed ...is the same concern many of my friends had...
Microsoft reliability
The xbox 360 was the most unreliable console ever made.
microsoft even admits around 60 percent of gen 1 models failed.
30+ percent of gen 2 models failed.
People want to play a game..not wait 3 months for a console to be shipped back to you!
People got burned by Microsoft and now they created a anti xbox 360 culture.

Hmm. I remember that I heard about online-checks within a certain period just recently. Don't know what it was about so I thought it'd be ps+-games.

Strangely most x360 were sold after the rrod. Something must be wrong with your theory.

I would be interested in such an article, as then I can moan at Sony. I hate the idea of paid online gameplay with PS4 which is why I'm not intending to get it at first, and then only when it's on offer at a reduced cost and maybe for 3 months at a time. Don't see how online will help me play an RPG like DA:I or FFXV. But there are F2P games for online if I want.
I guess the check could be considered the 'expiry' of PS+, you run out of PS+, you lose that 'rented' game I never expected anythign different but this is not different to say Netflix. Stop paying for Netflix and you don't get access to their content.

Forced Kinect. The price point.
One of Microsofts biggest mistakes were when they gave the 360 userbase a big F U and didnt properly support the console for the last half of the gen.

IMO, they were "screwed" the minute they announced XOne specs - considering audience MS and Sony are catering to, their duel can be compared to the arms race, and MS armed themselves with fewer missiles.
Before the spec leaks, I was fully expecting MS to dominate this gen, but they went too much for casual instead of focusing on core-centric hardware design.

Then why did Xbox 360 keep selling? Shouldn't it have been dead before Slim+Kinect came out?
