Mario kart 8 and smash bros alone are compelling reasons for someone to get a wii U. If Nintendo can give a few other reasons that strong they could get some momentum behind the console and some that previously scoffed at the Wii U might give it a chance.
Nintendo in for a very tough fight and would need few incredibly big media grabbing exclusives to turn things around.
For the Wii U to get 40 mil sales the it'll probably have to get the greatest console line up of all time.
