Forums - Gaming - Insominiac biting the feeding hand?

Since Microsoft is feeding them now, no, they aren't.

I can understand why they're so keen on owning their IPs now. It has to suck that everything they worked on for the past decade plus belongs to Sony. That said, Insomniac aren't what they used to be and the footage of Sunset Overdrive is really disappointing to me.

Really? I feel like all their past games are garbage. This is the only game of theirs that's interesting.

Insomniac was never very good, they were just said to be good because they were Sony exclusive, and Sony has so many fans who automatically praise any sony exclusive.

once they went multiplat they no longer had that effect, so people were free to say the truth about their games.

That said, SO actually looks kinda cool, amd I dislike cartoony art, but it looks cool renough to overcome that maybe.

lol

I actually like R&C (not much platformers on PS3 besides them), bought and didn't played Resistance (garbage bin bought)...

So when they were sony exclusive you tought they were bad but sony fans praised it, and when multiplat everybody were free to say how much they sucked, but now that it's MS exclusive you are praising, that is a great line of thinking.

I like R&C and I'm waiting to see what they will do for R&C in PS4, will they pay insominiac, will make in house, will give to a different partner.

I thought it was because they were tired of living in Naughty Dog's shadow.

A Lomax is also a good animal.

I read that Insomniac now wants to just focus on the IPs that they own.

Only one of their studios is working on SO. I'm pretty sure the other one is working on a new Ratchet.

Quite possible, let's see if it's the end of milking R&C or what Sony do next... but I still don't see much difference in owning the IP if you can just release in one place. Is kinda like you work for a company and all the work you do there belongs to them *even your inventions and projects that you developed alone or were fruit of your work there even if indirect*, then you quit and start working for yourself and sign consulting contracts were all the output of the consulting belongs to you but just can be used for the person who contracted you.

Well, maybe Sony wasn't a very good partner for them. Who knows? Perhaps they weren't providing Insomniac with the freedom to realize their vision - I.e to stop churning out tired Resistance and R&C titles and work on something interesting for a change.
