Down across the board in both hardware and software, despite a home console with a year of no next-gen competition, and a handheld whose competitor really isn't putting up a fight...

Ouch :/

I don't care much for the WiiU, but it's sad to see the 3DS slipping. I've have, and still am, heavily enjoying mine :c

It is kinda funny and sad that Nintendo had a more blue ocean when facing competition from the beggining than when not having any competition at all.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

The ocean's color doesn't matter when you forget to bring a boat.

Here's a Wii U vs. GCN chart from NeoGaf. It even takes into account Nintendo's forecast number of Wii U sales for this coming year (through March 2015):

The WiiU is doing so bad, I can't believe early last year I predicted 50 million sold life-time lol, now i doubt it will even sell 20 million.

This is depressing.

I still think it can do 20 million, maybe even 30 if it's on the market long enough. You can say NSMBU should be a system seller, but come on that's one game. And what else is there? A bunch of platformers. The only Nintendo developed, hardcore (lets face it, the casuals left the market altogether, not just Nintendo), nonplatforming title that is released so far for the Wii U is Pikmin 3, a game from a niche genre, originally designed for the Wii. The rest are platformers, party games, and Wii Fit. The system needs variety if it's even going to sell to Ninty fans.

Every now and then I am reminded just how bad this gen is shaping up for Ninty. I stand by my predictions of 15-20m for the Wii U and 70-80m for the 3DS...

Gba > 3DS thing is surprising

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m
