Forums - Gaming - Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire announced

I think now's actually a good time to take that risk as it seems Nintendo's not taking any risk at all.  It seems like Nintendo's running out of cards to play to stay relevant.

I'll wait to see what Nintendo will bring for E3.

As I said before, even if they were to announce a Pokemon MMO at E3 it would take years for it to release and there is no guarntee that it will be good. Take for example Final Fantasy XIV. It was announced in 2005, released in 2010. The game was so bad that Square had to re release it in 2013, and even then the game still has problems.

I agree that Nintendo needs to take risks, but a Pokemon MMO is a colossal risk that would end up screwing Nintendo over.

Around the Network

hm hoped for a 3rd game in the X/Y series... liked the 3rd game the most in the early gens.

Finally. I skipped these generations back in the day (was playing Phantasy Star Online at the time). I've been waiting for this.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, considering Nintendo seems to be releasing games like Smash Bros on 3DS/ Wii U, maybe, just maybe, there will be an announcement for a Wii U version at E3..........I know, it will not happen but we can all dream, can't we?

Definitely excited for this, I`m one of those weird people that rank Gen 3 as my favorite despite starting with Gen 1.

Around the Network

I knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time. I really wanna see some gameplay, although i assume it will be identical to X/Y in the hoenn locales.

Don't worry, Pokemon Z will probably come next year!

I honestly think fans don't mind waiting if it took years as long as fans know it's actually coming.  I find the problem with the Wii U is that Nintendo isn't giving their fans enough to look forward to.  They've only given them the same predictable 1st party games like they always do with every one of their system (nothing wrong, but expected).  All im looking forward to for the rest of my Wii U's life is Bayonetta 2, X, and a new Mario Party.  After those games i'm completely blank with what Nintendo has left for my Wii U.  Which is why i'll wait for E3 for new hope.  But a game like a Pokemon MMO is completely out of Nintendo's box that millions will look forward to even if it'll take awhile.

This new Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire is great news and will definitely sell tons; but its not that surprising that Nintendo would've done this.

I understand what you're saying about taking risk but at least this a risk Nintendo's heard from millions of fans of what they want.  A better risk at being sucessful than that Pokken Fighters.

I'm still waiting for one valid excuse from anyone as to why home consoles can't have a mainline Pokemon RPG.

Game Freak owns part of the Pokemon IP, they probably want to keep the mainline games on handheld and I doubt Nintendo can stop them.

Indeed, but why is Game Freak so stubborn/irrational/insecure? Surely GF has no reason to fear a console game cannibalizing handheld sales or popularity. That's what I meant in my first post.

Seems that Pokémon is going the yearly route. I'm afraid this may hurt it quality, reputation and hype in the long run. We had Black2/White2 in 2012, X/Y in 2013, now ORuby/ASaphire in 2014... I predict X2/Y2 in 2015 followed by Gen7 in 2016 (maybe on new hardware). And then maybe D/P remake in 2017 maybe?

Anyway, im super hyped for this game. Does'nt matter if it's a sequel or remake to me since the original games had a solid storyline (which X/Y lacked). I think I'll pick up saphire again like I did 10years ago.

I also think that Mega evolutions were a brilliant idea specialy made for remakes. You can't add new pokémons in remakes, you can only really add them in new gens. And it's hard to keep a game super exciting w/o new pokémons. So that's where Mega evolutions come in.

I expect mega evolutions of Gen3 pokémons. Since Blaziken already has his, I think it's a no brainer that Marshtomp and Sceptile gets one. And Blaziken better not get 2 like Charizard did cause I'm sick of the fire starters getting all the favorite treatment (I already complained that Blaziken was the only one to get a mega evo back in X/Y while the other 2 got ignored, so I guess this was in preperation for this remake/sequel).
I also hope Marshtomp gets a kick ass mega evo cause I ALWAYS pick the water starter, it's kind of a tradition, I picked Marshtomp last time, but he is w/o a doubt imo the lamest water starter and perhaps the lamest starter of all time lol. Otherwise I may pick Trecko this time around.

If I had to guess on other gen3 pokémons who could get a mega evo, I say Ludicolo and Shiftry. Also maybe Breloom. I doubt the legendaries will have a mega evo this time.
