Sony really needs to get their shit together. How is it possible that Minecraft can crash PSN? Jesus... Destiny release is gonna be fucking horrible.
From now onwards, assume PSN is always down and we'll email you on the occasional days you can use it

I can't see any way that a Shadow of the Colossus movie would be any good. I don't think you can capture that same feeling in a 90 minute movie and I doubt it could follow the same story, given that there are 16 colossi in the game

I think they will focus on the big colossis, while the rest will be shown as a quick montage or something that.

I know Sony is in trouble when they make movies out of cult games

Bet with Xander XT:
I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Not to say that it couldn't be done, but yeah; my first thought is that it would be pretty awful.
There are some concepts that really are better off served in one form of visual media over others, and just as there are movies that simply don't translate well into games, the opposite applies.
A film maker would have to cut down the list of colossi to make it fit into a 2 hour movie for starters. Pacing would be an issue since it is a game of exploration with a lot of meandering in between encounters. There's no real dialog since character interaction is non-existent, not to say that this isn't a restriction of film as we've seen films like Cast Away and I Am Legend that work well within that confine.
I think it would work better as a one season television show if anyone wanted to make into a non-interactive story.

Sony quietly released a direct to video movie of Heavenly Sword (not sure when; just noticed it this week for sale in the PSN Store), but it's a film made out of the cut scenes from the game in addition to new animated scenes and sequences to fill the parts of the story that were told during interactive/play sequences with the addition of a new character it looks like to round out the story.
I enjoyed Heavenly Sword quite a bit back in summer of 2007 when that was one of the few games really worth playing on the PS3, but probably wouldn't spend 8-10 hours playing through it again even though I would like to see the story. 90 minute movie? Sure, I'll watch that.

That could work. Show most or all of the previous colossi encounters as flashbacks.
Maybe start in medias res with an encounter with one colossi, go back to how the story/quest started, show other encounters as flashbacks, and focus on the big colossis as the key encounter at the end of the second act and spend the third with the aftermath of what was really going on.
Yeah; I guess a movie could be done.
