Ikaruga creator announces new shooter Ubusuna

The creator of Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun is working on a new shoot-em-up for PS4.

According to a post on Hiroshi Iuchi's blog, as translated by Siliconera, the new game called Ubusana will release as a downloadable title. Iuchi only confirmed a PS4 version, but he didn't rule out a wider release.

Iuchi is best known for his work at Japanese studio Treasure, where he worked on the previously mentioned games. He said his current employer, M2, agreed that he should announce the new game despite it being fairly early in development.

Iuchi said the game is currently in the prototype stage and it will be a while until it's released, but more details will be revealed in the near future.

Ikaruga hit Steam in February, bringing its unique polarity-switching gameplay to PC. The influential game built on shoot-em-up conventions by letting the player's ship absorb enemy bullets of their own color.

Players are free to switch back and forth at will but will be destroyed if they touch the opposite shade, a caveat which we said "will bend your mental matter as you try to keep up with swapping your colour at the right time" in our Ikaruga review for the Xbox Live Arcade port.
