I know they say that you can't get any better if you don't challenge yourself but there comes a point where your opponent is so much better than you that you just don't learn anything from fighting him anymore, since you basically don't even have an idea what's going on in that situation. I think participating in this beta was the worst thing I could do for my interest in this game. :D |
I think you just need to play more. You are looking way past what your core concern should be when getting better at a fighting game.
If you can barely pull off the moves in training mode, why would you be upset that you are getting beaten quite quickly in online matches?
I understand that this is how the beta is unfolding but with the actual game you should be looking at:
Training (upgrading to) Single player (upgrading to) multiplayer.
Another thing to note is that you shouldnt think of it as needing to learn every single move a character has to be competetive. You need to learn the moves that you feel are going to best suit the way you play. If that means that Ryu's shouruken is the only actual move you pull off then so be it. But in a case like that you need to compensate for movement understanding, and basic attack useage.
For reference the last time I played SF was SF2. And I have won some matches in the SF5 beta (maybe the other players sucked, who knows).

Oh I get what you're saying and once the full game hits I'll definitely be playing singleplayer first, but that's not really an option here. So my frustration stems from the fact that I'm always thrown into matches that I then quickly lose (and I'm aware that the point of the beta is stress testing, so I'm not blaming the game or anything here).
Also I've also managed to win like 3 matches on the first day, but I feel like most other noobs have given up on the beta by now so yesterday I was only getting crushed. :D
I might give it another go today but I won't judge the final game on this beta, it's just definitely not made for people like me.
