Nope. SSB and Zelda U will also help wii u. And nintendo might have some surprises left. It will give a decent boost. But it wont be able to push wii u above 15 million numbers.

Are not you a little too pessimistic?

Let's say that in the worst case sells 20 million ...

20m would be best case scenario.

It only managed 6m so far, and now PS4 and X1 is what everyone wants. Theres soon going to be reasons to buy those consoles every other week, but for wii U theres only one reason every few months and as the image posted previously shows, those 'reasons' are never effective as people claim they are going to be.

I know not everyone can afford a PS4 and X1, but PS3 and 360 are still available and has games like GTA. the wii U is in the middle of no-where. Even when the wii U is as cheap as the ps3 and 360, it wont have as many games.

Please do not talk about XO and PS4 as if they were the same thing...

PS4 sold double of XO, and And XO does not increase hardware sales with the multyplatform, because if one wants to take it a platform for PS4 ...

This generation will be something similar to the 6th generation, with PlayStation domination (in home console) and Wii U and XO will sell much less, for me XO will sold only 10 milion more of Wii U.

lifetime?

Personally I think X1 will be 10m ahead of the wii U by the end of 2015.

PS4 and X1 are the same thing when it comes to picking wii U or not because those 2 systems will offer a ton of multiplatforms which the wii U never will. I know the graphics are different, but thats more of a PS4 v XB1 debate, but the point I wanted to make is that for most people, it will be either one of those instead of the wii U.

and instead are 2 different things regardless, because it was XBOX-PS2-GC, The Xbox had the best cross-platform, and yet has only sold 25 million VS the 160 milion of PS2.

I think so, XO will only sell 10 million more Wii U lifetime, and PS4 will sold 80 milion more.

For me I also believe that XO Wii U will not have passed before 2016 ...

Only if Nintendo deliver the darker epic Zelda gamers want, not more whimsical toon stuff.

Wasn't twilight princess this kind of Zelda ?

Which in turn was perfectly able to sell the Wii (to core gamers) in the early months.

Mario Kart will be the biggest part of what decides the ultimate fate of the WiiU, yes. Of course, other games are going to help as well and even Mario Kart can't do it on it's own, but if that game doesn't get the WiiU's sales in an upward trajectory, nothing will.

I don't agree. Mario Kart will boost the Wii U later this month, but Nintendo needs significantly more to further raise and maintain the console. The Wii wasn't selling based on one game, Nintendo was releasing lots of games for it with lots of marketing. Nintendo should be able to leverage games that are coming out later, but that's much more the job of their marketing department. They will have to market well and not be so damn secretetive going forward.

Agreed!

Part of the problem is Nintendo has not been able maintain a consistent flow of games. It's difficult to market your console if you don't have games to market. The prevalent droughts have crippled the Wii U's ability to maintain a pressence in the consumers mind. A steady and constant release of games with decent marketing should help the Wii U in the long run, however, Nintendo's form in this regard does not bode well for the future.

Besides - I think it will be wise for Nintendo to use the Wii U and 3DS to build a strong foundation for their next system. By that I mean - improve their online infrastructure, more online foucesed game, developer two or three more new blockbuster franchise in the same vein as Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario , Pokemon etc, earn more loyal fans and try - for fuck sakes - try to learn from their mistakes.

Anyway, I am still hopeful Nintendo can pull somethings out of their ass, that truly excites everyone. Unlike Sony - Nintendo is in a financial postion to make a return to glory - whether it be with the Wii U or their next home console.

No, i'm not, and in any case people who are on this site from 4/5 years estimated 30/40 million Wii U...

Those predictions must be 3 years old though.... from when people were under the illusion that nintendo exclusives was selling the wii, not the hardware.

Yeah, Nintendo's exclusives didn't sell the Wii.

You need to check who it is that is really disillusioned.

I think $330 is still too high cost for Mario Kart 8 to get Wii U sold to general market consumers rather than just the Nintendo faithfuls.

nope, the software only sold because the hardware got people onboard.

If nintendo software really was that compelling, the wii U wouldnt be on 6.1m.

Disagreed, we still got Smash and hopefully some surprises left. Mario Kart is the biggest chance left, however.

my hope in wii U is as a second console.
It is not competing with PS4 or XBO.
Most dedicated gamers will have a PS4+wii U or XBO + Wii U.
but of course, wii U still need price drops and a zelda.
