Jumpin said: I don't agree. Mario Kart will boost the Wii U later this month, but Nintendo needs significantly more to further raise and maintain the console. The Wii wasn't selling based on one game, Nintendo was releasing lots of games for it with lots of marketing. Nintendo should be able to leverage games that are coming out later, but that's much more the job of their marketing department. They will have to market well and not be so damn secretetive going forward. |
Agreed!
Part of the problem is Nintendo has not been able maintain a consistent flow of games. It's difficult to market your console if you don't have games to market. The prevalent droughts have crippled the Wii U's ability to maintain a pressence in the consumers mind. A steady and constant release of games with decent marketing should help the Wii U in the long run, however, Nintendo's form in this regard does not bode well for the future.
Besides - I think it will be wise for Nintendo to use the Wii U and 3DS to build a strong foundation for their next system. By that I mean - improve their online infrastructure, more online foucesed game, developer two or three more new blockbuster franchise in the same vein as Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario , Pokemon etc, earn more loyal fans and try - for fuck sakes - try to learn from their mistakes.
Anyway, I am still hopeful Nintendo can pull somethings out of their ass, that truly excites everyone. Unlike Sony - Nintendo is in a financial postion to make a return to glory - whether it be with the Wii U or their next home console.
