PS4 Getting Sky Go and NOW TV This Year

by Giuseppe Nelva (32 minutes ago) 1

Sky sent a press release this morning announcing a new partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment UK to bring the Sky Go and NOW TV services to the British PS4s. NOW TV will hit the platform this summer, while Sky Go will come later this year.

The announcement also explains NOW TV customers will be able to watch content via the console as part of their subscription, while Sky TV customers will be allowed to chose between PS3 and PS4 as their platform of choice to take advantage of the service.

Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing Director Fergal Gara accompanied the announcement with a statement:

NOW TV has been a great addition to the PlayStation 3 entertainment portfolio, so bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family. Sky Go joining both PlayStation platforms further enhances our credentials as the ultimate gaming and entertainment package.

Sky Brand Director of TV Products Luke Bradley-Jones added:

More and more consumers are demanding easy access to a greater choice of high-quality entertainment over internet-connected devices. Sky is committed to helping customers access our great content, whenever and wherever they want. This deal is yet another example of that.  The agreement with Sony is great news for millions of Sky TV customers who can look forward to using Sky Go on their PlayStation 3 or PS4 for the first time.

NOW TV Director Gidon Katz also had to say:

We added support for PlayStation 3 last year and are pleased to be able to support PlayStation 4 this summer. NOW TV customers will have yet another way of streaming award-winning shows, movies and sports to their main TV screen.

Sky Go lets customers watch both live and on demand content including six Sky Sports channels, Eurosport, eleven Sky Movies channels, Sky Atlantic and third party channels such as FOX and Nickelodeon.

NOW TV is a contract-free internet streaming service from Sky providing instant access to flicks on demand from Sky Movies, pay-as-you-go access to Sky Sports and shows on 10 pay TV channels including Sky1, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living.

It's brilliant isn't it.

Sky was one of the reasons why a buddy of mine wanted to stay with Xbox this gen (the other being the controller, he doesn't particularly care about any of the MS franchises), maybe I should show him this. :D

Especially as Sky wont comment on if Sky Go is coming to xbox, more strange when they have confirmed Now TV is coming to xbox.

Hopefully BT Sport get an app up and running too!
