Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One’s Price Springs Back Up to $500 Across the US: Discounts Were Only Temporary

I thought this was known. It was only a temp price drop.

Why is everyone surprise or awaiting npd? According to most of you before.. price does not matter remember and is not the reason x1 sales are selling bad right?..Now it's a big deal?

Praise the One.

Even if it was pushed by Microsoft by promotionally discounting stock to retailers the sales of the Xbox One in the USA seem pretty good and ahead of PS4. It seems a market where the xbox one is doing well. They really need to focus on Europe especially the mainland where its failing miserably. Yes maybe xbox one sales will dip below ps4 now that the price has gone back up but in Europe xbox one sales are insignificant outside the UK to the point that stocking the console may not be realistic for many stores.

Notify NPD because they think it is the other way around for some reason.

They seem to be correct because with a 50$ cut and game (meaning it was cheaper than a PS4 with a game), Xbone was outsold by a significant margin in March. In US.

Better hope Titanfall can carry it til E3.

Looking forward to see VGChartz US numbers that week

Now that the price is back up, Xbone will beat the PS4 even harder on the weekly American sales!

I disagree on Europe. X360 was always cheaper than PS3 and still sold worse. I think MS should focus their efforts on US and UK markets and try to gain back the market share lost to Sony, and in all other markets just remain visible at full price, even if it means bad sales. Because even with price cuts they don't stand much chance of gaining lots of ground, and should just take all the money they can get. It's not like they sell a lot there anyway, US and UK constitute 75% of their sales, and even September's expansion into other markets will not skew those percentages much.

I know the other retailers were just following price matching strategies...but I thought Walmart said the $449 price tag was an "official rollback". The other retailers going back up in price is fine. It was a promotional price. But that's kinda shitty of Walmart to officially rollback the price, then jack it back up. When they made it an official rollback, it was no longer "on sale".

That just means there are plenty of reasons in which price is merely one of them. Having a higher price now than in the last month or so will only slow down sales, not increase them. It's very much about perception

i think that this last previous week (the one we don't have numbers for, yet) will probably be the closest XB1 will ever get to ps4 numbers in a looooong time, cause it also includes the huge UK price drop. it's all downhill after that
