Forums - Sony - Driveclub runs at 1080p 30fps

It must be insane graphics. They didn't do the baked in fake lighting like Forza.

If there was another platform that did 60fps I'd get that version, but meh. I bet this game would run at 8fps on xbone as well as being 480p.

Nah, less. For sure...

60fps is more important than eye candy for racing games, in my opinion.

1080p isn't just about eye candy.  Draw distance and detailed draw distance is extremely important in a racer and increased resolution helps extends draw distance.

Not worth the framerate tradeoff.

More than worth it, 60fps vs 30fps is only a 1frame difference at best of seeing something when it gets close enough, higher resolution will let you see that same thing much sooner.

Too bad at 30fps your ability to respond at high speed is hampered by input delay.

30 FPS for a racer in 2014? Style over substance ...

It's certainly an incredibly good looking game ^^

On a side note, i know you're new here but it's best to avoid comments like your second. It will just start more arguments, which is something this thread really doesn't need >.<

1 frame difference, a higher resolution more than makes up that.

Where are you pulling this one frame difference from, your arse?

If you don't know stop commenting on why you think 60fps is good.

Nobody that defends 30fps in a modern high speed racing game can be taken seriously.

So you've run out uninformed excuses and now spout rhetoric.

Any game where visual distance comes into play, resolution benefits a lot.

It does you no good when you have delayed response due to having half as many inputs per second. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of defending your favourite company...

While it's true that 60fps would seem a lot smoother than 30, a locked framerate of 30 is very very important. What the eyes notice above all are frame drops. That creates inconsistency in the image and completely breaks immersion.

Kylie does have a good point that the draw distance is paramount in such a game, the fact that you can see the corners much further away and a high detail of the track makes a huge difference.

In the case for a racing game, if you had to chose between 1080p + huge draw distance and 30fps over, 720p, closer draw distance and 60fps, I woud take the former any day of the week.

Still in a perfect world we would have it all :)

I always hear people say 60fps in a racer is essential. Interesting to see how this works out.

I'd definitely still prefer 720p@60fps (actually, if that res is supported, it should be able to run at 760p@60fps) for racers and any other fast-paced game.
Edit: But hey, I belong to teh Glorious PC Gaming Master Race , so, if a compromise is unavoidable, I can almost always choose the one that's best for my needs or my tastes.
