Forums - Nintendo - Can This Generation of Super Smash Bros Have A Global Yearly(or Monthly) Competitive Scene, Hosted By Nintendo? (Like Yearly Sponsored Pokemon on VGC and TCG)

Prediction: This Generation Super Smash Bros for WiiU Will Be Huge in the Yearly(or Monthly) Tourny!

Like how nintendo does Pokemon Tournies which are on a Global Scale, i think they will heavily do it for SSB starting with SSB for WiiU(maybe 3DS too).

SSB community is huge and in the competitive community for over the past decade have been playing SSBM! It is one of the 2 most popular fighting games. With SSBB having one of the best moddings in gaming (PROJECT M), Nintendo has acknowledge this tourny competitive scene!

They acknowledged it to a point they are holding at E3 16 persona invitation only tourny (something never done before). It might not look to be a big deal, but there is a chance like how COD and Pokemon have Global size tournies, and with Nintendo backing up SSB (something which only the determined fans have done and an AMAZING Job at that) we can officially see Wat many of us have ever wanted!

The Hints are there! "For Glory" on SSB online, The ever expanding Competitive Scene, and of course a Professional only invite tourny at this Years E3!!!

Thoughts!!!???

Knew I shoulda just made the thread on this when I hads the chance! xP

Doing it for smash and mk8 would work wonders for the console, but I doubt Nintendo will considering they have taken this long to see the commercial viability in competitive smash. Pokemon MMO would do it as well.

For years, those arguing for the competitiveness of Melee or even Brawl would often be countered by Nintendo (Sakurai)'s own words.

The fact that Sakurai is acknowledging the competitive scene is promising.

too bad :p

Seriously though, the hype online about this! If they did MK8 too it wpuld be awesome, both can easily extend the life of the console!

Anywayz, imagine like the pokemon competitive scene but for SSB?? They have the community, anybody that thinks this is a bad idea/etc dont know what their talking about lol! SSB has one of the biggest ( easily top 10 in the world) Tourny competitive scene in the gaming industry.

Top 2 in fact for games that dont have no support from the developer/publisher: SSB Melee(and Project M now) and Street Fighter (i think SF2)

Yesss!! the signs are there! For Glory/Final Destinations for every stage (at least most of them)/A TOURNY ACTUALLY BEING HOSTED BY NINTENDO AND NOT THE FAN COMMUNITY (might add in that they are inviting 16 top players)

Very smart and underrated move by nintendo. There are a ton of people who follow Evo/tournies and kno big players like Mew2King/HungryBox (professional players) and will see them play the next gen of SSB and hyping up the game itself! I cant f***ing wait!

Pokemon= RPG Competitive (not to mention they do Trading Card Tournies)

SSB= Fighter  Competitive

MK8= Racing  Competitive (Do It nintendo!)

lawlz I don't actually care who makes the thread, just as long as it's made! ^_^

But yeah I definitely believe this is a sign of more tournaments to come! Such a massive turnaround from when they were trying to shutdown Smash at EVO. Honestly I think if they did host regular tournaments, it'd become even bigger than the Pokemon tournament scene due to Smash's accessibility (don't have to spend hours training teams). I know I'd take part in these tournaments, and maybe I'd even try to become really good at the game aswell!

I have conflicting opinions of final destination mode. Especially, since Ganondorf was first main's and he can barely move on final destination.

Well, they are certainly trying to be in the competitive scene with SSB4 but the question is... Will people play this competitively and not Melee? Cause when I think of competitive Smash Bros, I think Melee and so does a lot of other people which is why thats on both MLG and Evo as well as other tournaments! And thats one of the big issues so if Nintendo can make it a success that way, I can see this being a bigger hit than I previously thought but if they can't then it will just sell well!

I guess Nintendo always has the power to just take Melee off of Evo and MLG and replace those with SSB4 but I think thats too forceful. They can also host it them selves like you suggested but that takes a lot of money and effort as well as sponsors but if they can do it, I shall fap my way to fapville and watch every single one!

I don't think they would get forgiven for doing it again.

You don't

fuck

with the smash community.
