Forums - Gaming - Will a 3rd party shooter secure X1s 2nd place, notion of PS4 is FPS land.

I think people will be in for a big surprise with Destiny.
I don't think people paid attention to the boring fest of E3 2013 staged gameplay and this year even more boring show of classes and sh**.
It's aimed to be an MMO and it's gonna be as boring as the genre.

If PS4 does become fps land (if it hasnt already?)... its most likely gonna be the land for every other genre as well.
If XB cant win the fps crown, which other genre does it have a chance at?

Exactly, sales show it becoming shooter land already.

With xbox losing fps its losing its only true games advantage it had.

Why? We are talking about 3rd party here and the games will be very close together except from moneyhatted content. What does PS4 better than Xbone in fps?

1) I know we are talking about 3rd party.

2) As OP states, PS4 is leading sales on 3rd party fps like Battlefield and COD. The ratio is higher on PS4vXB1 than it was on X360vsPS3 when xbox was considered fps land.

Titanfall is the only reason I used 'ifs'. I'm sure titanfall 2 will follow the same trend as COD and BF though.

But what do you mean with "chance at"? The games getting released are mostly the same so I ask where does it have no chance? Saleswise? Fun wise? Gameplay wise? Variety wise?

Meh the gen is young. I had hopes MS would remove the DRM and my faith was rewarded. Now I hope they unbundle kinect and sell a $349 X1.

Besides, Destiny isn't like BF or COD. Destiny is a "Pretend Exclusive". It is a new term where a games E3 showings, press builds, marketing (logo at end of ads), beta, and content are exclusive to one console.

To the uninformed gamer, the console advertised is literally the only platform the game is available. The pretend exclusive.....what a age we live in.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

hmmm....are we certain Destiny is going to be that big? Or maybe on par with Borderlands?

Destiny will be the next CoD in terms of sales for both consoles... I don't know quality.

for all 3rd party multiplatforms fun gameplay and varienty will be the same. Graphics in the best case scenario will be equal, or PS4 will have an advantage. I also dont expect world wide sales to be higher on XB than on PS4.

As for third party exclusives. I dont think XB will be getting that many more and titanfall isnt a big enough reason over pretty much every other fps doing better on PS4.

XB still can turn it around with a kinectless SKU, agressive pricing and gain significant advantage over PS4 in NA to allow the next COD and BF and other shooters to sell better on it. But as I mentioned above, I used the word if. IF the mainstream notion becomes that PS4 is fps land, why would MS have a chance in its weaker genres?

Well, Halo 4 was very, very good on 360, in my opinion. Not much came close to it.

I think we should think about what really makes fps games successful...

Halo 4 issue was the MP... it made a lot of Halo fans stay away from the MP... making a "off" comparison Halo 4 make the MP population goes from CoD levels to Killzone levels ("off" because Halo 4 MP yet have a bigger population than any Killzone but it dropped close do 80% compared with previous titles.

SP is fine... devs needs really work on MP.
