5th gen when it seemed there was no such thing as a bad game from Rare or Nintendo. Every release from them was solid gold!

3D gaming was still new and fresh, dev time was short, innovation abounded, and there was a sparsity of obtrusive websites and social media telling you which games you were supposed to like.

6 gen for me cause of games like Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Persona 3 and 4, Halo 1 and 2, MGS 2 and 3, and Wind Waker, and the Sly Games.

According to my top 50 games thread, in terms of the quantity of games, it's the 7th gen.

I'm tempted to vote for the 5th generation though because of the sheer quality.

4th
SNES, GB, Mega Drive, Neo-Geo AES (only played the games on later consoles, the originals are too expensive)

8th.

Current consoles: Wii U, Gaming PC

Generation X

I don't know if I can count this as an option..

Just having some fun pretending to not having read the post. I know, lame.

But I'll give you the 5th then as so many others have already.

6th for me, as far as console go anyway. But the best time to be a gamer for me was the 90's, the golden era of PC gaming.

5th

I was an N64 kid, I wouldn't trade that away for any other console in my childhood. They were the best times gaming. As much as the games have aged in time, the great memories will forever last.

PSOne was cool too, but we moved on to N64 before I was old enough to truly appreciate the games.

Dreamcast
PS2
Gamecube
Xbox

I owned them all. No contest whatsoever.

6th and the 5th gen.
