sorry guys, but nintendo would still have to censor a lot of their material. you may not think anything of most of the games but cartoon violence would be banned. this basically only allws puzzle games

I doubt it, since we already have a precedent from the censorship laws used for computer gaming and the iQue Player, and they weren't that severe. Nintendo got most of their first-parties through, after all.

So I expect most of the T-rated games and below to get the green lights, unless they deal  with China or religion.

Wii U to sell 500mil confirmed!

These rules are so vague that even Pokemon could be worked to fit into them ._.

Looks like the Chinese are gonna be playing Super Mario Bros.

From the article.

By the 13th article the government promotes new or recreated national culture or entertainment but is prohibited within the following contents, if it:

(1) violates the basic principles of the Constitution.
(2harms national unity, sovereignty or territorial integrity.
(3) endanger national security or harm national honor and interests.
(4) incitement to ethnic hatred or ethnic discrimination, hurt national sentiments, customs and habits or undermining national unity.
(5) violation of state religion policies or propagate cult and superstition.
(6promotes obscenity, gambling, violence and drug-related criminal activities.
(7) breach of ethics or national cultural tradition.
(8) insults or slander others and is against the legitimate rights and interests of other people.
(9) the laws and administrative regulations prohibit any other content.

It's the same guidelines as for any entertainment in China.

Most games would pass. Manhunt and GTA would probably not.

Mario, abuses poor defenseless animals and uses drugs.

Jack Thompson, is that you?

Well the good thing is they took one step forward by lifting the ban and only took one step back with that bullshit list of rules. It could have been worse.

Thanks jlmurph!
