Im a little torn. I read alot of the books, and most of them werent great. Thrawn trilogy was the shit. But we knew that was gonna be non canon. But the comics. I actually liked. IMHO the clone wars comics were better than the show. The whole Anakin had a padawan felt forced, especially since they dont even mention her or have a reference in episode 3. So is Disney going to redo the entire prequel trilogy. As for people saying most EU was bad, fair enough, but lets be real. Can someone point out a piece of EU that was WORSE than the prequels? Im curious.

Have you seen the last story arc in Season 5? That goes a long way towards explaining her absence in Episode 3...

Yeah, I honestly can't think of a single piece of the EU that was worse than the prequels, except for the EU that was focused around the prequels and their characters. Heck, both Clone Wars shows are better than the prequels. The New Republic era EU was pretty good imo, there were some rough spots but even at it's worst it's not that bad. But even the prequels weren't all bad, there were some bad elements such as Jar-Jar and the poorly written romantic dialogue for Anakin and Padme, but the prequels were at least decent. Pretty much I like all of Star Wars, so it saddens me that they're destroying some of it.

gonna have to disagree. IMHO Jude Watson is VERY underrated, she wrote the teen books, but they are better than some of the stuff the "Pros" wrote. Legacy of the Force is one of my favs as its probably the only protrayal of Jedi Knight Dooku and Qui Gon the padawan. She gets the dynamics of the characters MUCH better than Lucas. But yeah I agree on everything else.  I think post OT era things started going downhill. From Yuuzhan Vong on forward. That saga was too long. and they started killing off characters for the shock of it it seemed.

im on season 5 right now. But we have to be real here. Her character was created LONG after the prequels were done, we cant act like she was always part of the plan. Hell even Quinlan Vos got name dropped in episode 3...

which is cool as i personally would like at least his story in the comics to be canon, he had a great arc.

this i can get down with. The post Jedi stuff got really out of control. It was getting worse and worse.

Of course. I'm not saying that she was. Just that her absence is pretty well explained by the finale of Season 5.

I've actually never read much of the prequel based EU stuff, I just assumed that it might be bad since it's based around the prequels. 

I agree it was the start of the New Jedi Order era where things started to go downhill, they killed off relationship building from the previous series chronologically (Young Jedi Knights), they killed off characters (including some major ones), and then there was Jacen's fall to the dark side which seemed entirely unnecessary to me, I'm not a fan of any of that. But the New Republic era stuff like the Thrawn trilogy, the Young Jedi Knights series, and the Jedi Academy series were all good, not to mention the Kyle Katarn based games set during the New Republic era, they were fantastic. And none of that is canon now. The mere thought of Kyle Katarn not being canon is sickening.

the prequel stuff...naw screw that the EU stuff in general is better by default for the simple fact they had better writers. Lucas is just not good. It becomes very apparent when you compare him to just about anyone.

Oh yeah. New Republic stuff is great. I still play Jedi Knight 2 for GC, just for the hell of it sometimes. MAYBE if fans make enough noise they will implement him in the new films in some way. ala Ayala Secura and Quinlos Vos. Hell they NEED Mara Jade in their.

fair enough. Im still watching. ITs actually a much better show than I thought. I never saw it as canon so i ignored it. THere are still some things i dont like, like Darth Maul coming back, I think it kills the character a bit. BUT it is a damn good show overall.
