Yes the Wii is the worst selling best selling console for a generation in Japan =P
However the PS3 is the best selling 2nd place ever. The only console that did poorly and expectedly so was the Xbox 360

The real 7th gen Dragon Quest that people wanted, as well as most of the spinoffs, remakes, etc, were made for the DS.

Third party titles like Final Fantasy 13, Resident Evil, and most Warriors games were released for the PS3 instead.

The Wii got barely anything for its last two years on the market.

Some of the big new series of gen 7 got little to no Wii attention: Nintendogs, Brain Age, etc.

Japan doesn't care much about Just Dance.

The entire Japanese market started shifting away from consoles early in the Wii's life, circa 2007.
