Forums - Gaming - Titanfall exclusivity proved to be (quite) pointless

It's the no 2 game for the X1 and will probably surpass Ghosts in a couple of weeks. That will make it the best selling X1 game at the moment and probably for a long time to come. How is that pointless? That's like saying the X1 is pointless.

What MS wanted was a repeat of the first Halo. What they got was anything but. Thats the OP's point.

So you don't think it will outdo the original Halo on XBOX? Maybe not but a very good start though with a smaller current user base and of course a very high attach rate. Again.. a healthy start to an exclusive hit game. This one will have legs.

The first Halo MADE Xbox. Without it, that system would have failed and we might not even have had the Xbox 360. So do I think it will outdo it? Absolutely not lol. Titanfall is no Halo.

I'm not sure why people make all this fuss about this game... people like it and play it... what's the problem? You don'T like it fine, nobody will come after you.

This is the internet, we don't take something for granted!

I'm really looking forward to April NPD since i think VGChartz is underestimating the X360 version. X360 hardware even dropped to just 20k in the U.S. in the last weeks numbers.

I find it suspicious how MS or EA haven't claimed any achievement regarding Titanfall's sales. It sold better than inFamous, but as Sony announced it's early sales, they must've been quiet happy with it. Titanfall sales however, suggest it wasn't good enough, despite selling more. I can imagine they expected it to sell millions, possibly coming into CoD/BF sales territory, but it was far from that, and therefore they're not making any claims yet, because 1 or 2 million for such a highly marketed game is as I imagine, far from being good.

It was that or let the game die, what would you prefer?

Or EA could've actually used their money.

LOL, Nintendo could've bought it like they did Bayonetta 2.

The difference is Bayonetta 2 won't have existed without Nintendo funding it, Titanfall probably would have without Microsoft.

If you can't understand that two games can use the same mechanic in different ways then I really don't know what to tell you. The industry thrives on people taking the same stuff and making their own out of it. Not only games but music, movies, really any form of art. PanterA took a guitar, a bass, and some drums and made music. Green Day takes a guitar, a bass, and some drums and makes very different sounding music.

When someone says a game is fresh or new they aren't saying it is doing something that has literally never been done before. The industry has been around for decades, there's almost nothing out there that no one has done before. Titanfall has mechs, but other shooters have had mechs. It's fresh and new in Titanfall because it's a unique take. Same with the AI. And same with its jetpack element. It's no different than Killzone's Warzone game mode. I am sure you would agree that is a fresh and new take on a bunch of game modes that existed long before KZ2 came out.

Shooters were modern before CoD. CoD4 blew up because of the MP. World at War sold less because Treyarch made it and people thought CoD3 sucked. Black Ops was not set in modern times and it still outsold MW1 and MW2. Anyway, your remarks about a vendetta and stuff just shows you're catching too many feelings to discuss things maturely, so toodles.

Oh, so you agree with what I was originally saying? Thanks. That's all I wanted. Here's how the original conversation went down:

Well people expected something new, instead it just ended up as CoD with mechs, high jumps and bots.

That is new for a competitive FPS. Try harder.

And all I said was that it wasn't. You then went on a tirade about how it hasn't been done "like in TF". I don't care if it hasn't been done "like in TF". Sales made a general statement, and I corrected him. The thing about a "vendetta" isn't me being immature. It's you reading way too much into a simple correction merely because it didn't make TF seem like the second coming. That sounds more like "catching feelings" to me, as opposed to me saying "other games have had this". I bet if someone said aiming down the sights have been done before, you'd get all "BUT NOT LIKE IN TF! TFs take on aiming down the sights is so fresh and new". That's cool, bro. But all I said was that aiming down the sights have been done before. "YOU'RE WRONG!". You may think that depiction is "not being mature", but that sums up this convo exactly

LOL...

What people? The game still sells, it sells online, it sells at retail, people pay up to 500$ to get the game. I have a few friends that eventhough they had a PS4 they still either bought Titanfall for 360 or they bought an X1 for it. Now there's plenty of Gen6 to Gen10 players still playing. I have played this game for the past month and still do. What was I supposed or everyone in my friendlist or those other players expecting? Because right now, actual players are still playing... not random posts from the internet from people that "say" they played and got bored pretty fast.

Games cannot please to everyone of course but some random people can't be used for generalisation. You have the right to your opinion but stop spreading fud with nothing to back your claims.

What fud? People came here and says it is game of the generation, innovative, new multiplayer competitive, bla bla bla... this is fud... and what I'm talking have to do with people playing the game? Even the crap Basement Craw (the game is really bad) have people playing... ramdom post lol I can say the same for you... you say that not get bored is just a ramdom post in the internet.

I alreayd said the game is good... 8.5/10 for sure but stop to try make it better than it is... it is nothing innovative or added nothing new to the genre, it is really a mix of good and old ideias that can be better worked in the future (the game have potential), the bots makes the game be boring after some days of play (eg. days of play for me is like 20-30 hours), the Titan are cool but right now I prefer a mode wihtout bots and Titans (why not 16 x 16... the map size is good for that amount of people).

The gameplaye is great and fun... needs more modes and more content.

Maybe like I said the biggest issue with this game was people setting the expectation too high... the final package was not that amazing game hyped since last year... it is a great game but have it flaws that needs to be addressed.

Now if that is fud then continue with the second coming... I want to play a better game in the future and I think Titanfall have the potential to grow... wait and see.

I have suspicions its because the 360 version is still a couple weeks. old. When that version has been on sale for over a month, I think then would be a great time to announce total sales across all 3 platforms.

No, it really isn't and that statement from you pretty much tells everyone you have an extremely small knowledge of FPS games.

Ironically that is what you are telling everyone. If you were right this game would have no basis for any type of buzz because it seemingly does nothing fresh

Oh please, it is the first non CoD game from the makers of CoD and was a MS exclusive.  Two reasons for it to get loads of hype, it just didn't deliver on it.

Tell me have you ever played the series you avatar comes from?   That right there makes your statement wrong and makes you look totally ignorant of the FPS genre.

lol and why didn't it deliever again? You know it took COD 3 tries before it hit it big. It increased X1 sales by 20k weekly, drove up gold subscriptions, will soon be the #1 selling X1 title, and is outselling any game this early in ANY consoles lifecycle.

Yes, I play Halo. You downplaying this game is whats ignorant. There is clearly something to this game and downplaying it for baseless reasons is just silly.
