Forums - Sony - PS4's 20 First Year Exclusives Doesn’t Include The Last of Us Remastered, “Ports” – Sony Employee

People said the same thing about the Vita a year after it launched with most of Sony's announcements as ports.  Two years later and look how many ports Sony has funded for future release.  Borderlands 2, Epic Mickey 2, God of War Collection, and Sly Cooper Collection are coming out in the future.

I'm going to keep up the PS4 having no games until Sony starts pushing to prove otheriwse.  Like I said in another post.  With the PS4selling well it's going to get less ports and more next gen multiconsole and exclusive titles, but right now it hasn't happened and both Nintendo and Microsoft are trying to support their consoles more than Sony has been.

And yes.  Sony has been pushing indnies.  Indie, indie, indie, indie.  Where the games cost $15 and 99% of them are below average compared to most retail releases the last couple of years.

If you seriously believe that the PS4 situation is going to be the same as the Vita, then I really don't know what to tell you. The Vita only gets ports in the west because everything else would be incredibly stupid with how bad the Vita is doing, it's never going to sell well in the west so financing big AAA exclusives for that thing would be like throwing money down the drain.

The situation of the PS4 is completely different cause as you said yourself, it's selling.

And saying that Nintendo and MS are trying to support their consoles better than Sony and that Sony isn't pushing to get games is once again not true, but I think we had that discussion in another thread, so I don't want to start this again.

So again, you are making a big deal out of absolutely nothing.

I think I said the same thing to him about that. I want to know what MS is doing or has done that Sony isn't to make him feel this way. I will give him Nin seeing as the console has been out over a year and SHOULD have more games out and coming ESPECIALLY seeing as the Wii U is not selling all that hot right now. Again I just feel it is jumping the gun for no apparent reason right now without even giving things time to pan out.

If it's news that someone at Sony has made a statement about it, Neogaf member or not, then there must be a lot more people complaining about ports than people in other threads tried to make believe.

I really don't understand why anyone would be against them... They take little effort and money to accomplish, so won't be distracting from their primary projects. It's just a simple way for new PS customers to play some of the PS3's best games, old customers to double dip if they are so inclined and an easy way for the PS division to pull in some extra profits (which leads to more new games).

I really don't see the downside >.<

Anyway, i don't think this statement tells us there was any kind of mass outcry. Someone was probably just curious as to if this counts towards that number (seeing as it isn't a 'brand new' PS4 game), and they were given an answer.

I agree with this post. I usually don't double dip,but I'm going to in this case. that's how much I loved the game.

I dont realy buy the 20 exclusives and 12 new IPs thing, if thats the case Sony is gona be releasing like 2 exclusives a month from now to the end of the year.

You don't call publishers taking the cheap way out and porting all their games instead of developing new games a downside?  Porting games obviously takes resources and manpower.  Some publishers might even think that if they're going to make the same amount of money porting a title instead of creating a new title then why not make the port.

If people keep buying into all these ports, more and more developers are going to jump at the idea of rerereleasing a last gen game at full MSRP instead of developing a new game.  There's no guarantee this will happen but there's also no guarantee that this gen won't be flooded with last gen ports.  So far that's just about all we have to play.

Should we punish Ubi for releasing a next gen version of AC4? What about BF4? And COD? Had TLOU released a year later, but on both the PS3 and PS4, no one would have batted an eye lash. Seeing as that's the case, and would have require the same small % of man power, why should it matter that they are doing it later rather than having entirely delayed the PS3 version?

As i said, all this does is give new customers a chance at the old, and old ones a chance to replay. It costs relatively little, it requires perhaps a small team over a few months (small enough and profitable enough that the hiring of a small extra team can be easily justified), and helps the PS division. If porting were such a strenuous and expensive venture then Ubi wouldn't be releasing their games on the PS3, PS4, X1, 360, WiiU and PC :p

No to mention, TLOU is the only game actually confirmed :/ Were Sony porting over every exclusive of the last 3 year and no working on a single other game, i could understand your constant complaints about it, but they aren't. The only other is a rumor about a game from a third party studio.

Deep Down

so is there a list of the games that are counted toward there 20 game statement?

The Last of Us isn't a PS4 exclusive, remastered edition doesn't turn it into an exclusive. So of course That wasn't one of those PS4 exclusives.

To be fair, those next gen games you listed were announced before the PS360 version were released, so consumers could have waited a few weeks to purchase them. If they did purchase the last gen version, then they could have upgraded to the next gen version at a highly discounted price - I think $10. A better example would have been Tomb Raider which might have initiated the one-year port trend.

I understand why Sony would port one year old games, and I don't blame them for it. However, I do find it completely ridiculous. After they removed BC, they started the remastering/porting trend and other publishers followed suit. It's funny because when the first HD collection was announced, people complained while the defenders said it won't become a trend. Now I didn't mind HD collections since those were great values: numerous games in one disc with added trophy support and at a discounted price. But one year ports are horrible since they're basically the same game as last gen's version, but sold at full price. We're going to start seeing more soon.

As for the topic on hand, if the list includes indies/PSN games, then yes, 20 exclusives sounds plausible. How many of those are a must have is yet to be seen however. PS3 had a nice amount of exclusives in its first year, but the majority of them weren't even good.
